I've never heard of an non pitcher getting Tommy John. Probably have been plenty of them, but this is the first one I've heard of.

Also, Mountains Of Teal is right, catcher just moved very high up the list in offseason priorities.

Kelly Johnson who is having a great year for Arizona had it.

Roberto Alomar

Luis Gonzalez.

Pudge will most likely be available, as the Nats have a young man that is supposedly ready to come up to the Show. If he is affordable do we take a chance he has something left ? He does know how to handle young pitchers which we have a ton of.

Don Wakumatsu is one I know of. He was all over MLB Network when it was announced Strasburg was going to have it.

He is still there for another year

i say we spend some money and get victor martinez.

bad news with baker and im a little pissed that they didnt have the surgery sooner.

this always happens where they try to rest it and rest it knowing there is merely a slim chance of full recovery.

That'd be great, but I'm sure the Red Sox will resign him and we probably don't have the money to compete.

yup. But maybe they wouldn't be against trading him since they have an upcoming catcher, specially since Pudge wants to be an everyday player.

I personally think it might cost us too much, but I definitely wouldn't mind seeing Pudge in a Marlins uniform again.

donnie murphy also had surgery today.

definitely someone we should re-sign for the bench next year.

I think that's the plan. Isn't he still under club control, though?

Well, this probably means Baker and Paulino are both gone once the season is over. We could have two new catchers (although probably one plus Brett Hayes or something) next year.

Definitly not mind seeing Pudge in a Marlins uni?

The man is a 1st ballot HOFer, if the front office wants a Solid Catcher get Pudge... I already go to all home games but pretty sure getting Pudge would also get more butts in the seats!

Also, punks like Nyjel Morgan wouldn't pull that stuff he did to Brett Hayes had it been pudge!

For? I heard it was a dislocation. Never heard of surgery for that.

i think the front office will definitely give baker another shot when he is healthy.

its sad because this was really a big year for him after having two solid years in 08 and 09.

Well now you have.

The goog thing is we'll finally have a catcher that can throw out runners. If TJ gives pitchers bionic arms, it should work for catchers too.
