October 6, 201015 yr No full predictions, I just think the Phillies and Yankees meet up once again in the World Series. MLB in general lacks the parity and excitement in the playoffs that other sports currently have. I love baseball, but I think they go about their playoffs incorrectly. You just love making these sweeping subjective claims about the "excitement" factor in MLB, don't you? I couldn't disagree more.
October 6, 201015 yr I'm a fan of nearly all sports, and ratings and attendance levels show baseball is going about their business wrong (or they should make some tweaks to increase fan interest and ratings). A new playoff system won't fix everything, but it would be a start.

A new playoff system won't fix everything, but it would be a start. What proof do you have that the playoff structure is the culprit? Being a fan of all sports doesn't mean what you are saying isn't incredibly subjective. Ratings have been declining as the WC has been implemented. That's a move toward what you call "parity."
October 6, 201015 yr I think it's been in decline simply baseball players and teams aren't being marketed nearly as much as other athletes and teams. Actually, that's probably just one of a few reasons why baseball has lost interest over the years. The Strike, the aftermath of the steroid era, and in my opinion, the lack of exciting playoff series in recent years. I've never said it was a fact that new playoff system will help increase ratings and interest. I'm stating an opinion that adding a new wrinkle to the playoff system would only help to increase ratings.
October 6, 201015 yr Back on topic, 8 innings of no hit ball for Halladay. It would totally suck for him if he blew it in the 9th.
October 6, 201015 yr DON LARSON, THERE IS A NEW MAN IN THE RECORD BOOKS, AND HIS NAME IS ROY HALLADAY! I'm not excited, I just like to write in all caps.
October 6, 201015 yr wow, the reds looked terrible. first playoff game in 15 years, and you fail to get a hit?
October 6, 201015 yr lol wow. The entire universe aligns itself for Roy Halladay Weren't the Reds the top offensive team in the League? BA, slugging, OBP, etc?
October 6, 201015 yr If Jesus was a Major League Pitcher, he'd finish second to Roy Halladay in the Cy Young Voting every year.
October 6, 201015 yr wow, the reds looked terrible. first playoff game in 15 years, and you fail to get a hit? Maybe it's because they faced ROY HALLADAY.
October 7, 201015 yr wow, the reds looked terrible. first playoff game in 15 years, and you fail to get a hit? Maybe it's because they faced ROY HALLADAY. Cincinnati continues their trend of losing when it matters, nice game by roy though, sucks that we have to face him for the next 4-5 years.

We faced him 4 times this season and JJ pitched in two of those games. And the 4th time might've been JJ's spot in the rotation.
October 7, 201015 yr Author Not making excuses for my Rays today, but that home plate ump blew like three calls that killed momentum. The big one being that "foul tip strike" to Carlos Pena.
October 7, 201015 yr Not making excuses for my Rays today, but that home plate ump blew like three calls that killed momentum. The big one being that "foul tip strike" to Carlos Pena. It looked inconclusive to me but I do think it hit something. Pena claimed it hit his hand but he barely reacted at all, plus that call usually comes by sound from the ump so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. That said, try not taking strike 3 looking next time.
October 7, 201015 yr Wow, 10 straight postseason losses for the Twins. Some might say it's just bad luck. But I think it's pretty clear; for years they have had what it takes to win a mediocre AL Central division over the course of 162 games, but never enough to match up against teams like the Yankees in a short postseason series.

They just can't deal with someone as CLUTCH as A-Rod was last year, right? That's what you're saying?
October 7, 201015 yr I'd just like to say that Mariano Rivera is amazing. Easily my favorite pitcher in baseball.

Given how rare sweeps are in general, I think it's bad luck. Regardless of how mediocre your division is, losing 10 straight is bad luck anywhere.
