Posted November 8, 201014 yr He's said he would like to play here, and now mlbtraderumors has him ranked as the 27th best free agent, predicting he ends up playing here. Your thoughts? I don't want him, personally.
November 8, 201014 yr Meh, not the most exciting name out there, but I guess he's be better than Davis/Hayes
November 8, 201014 yr Earned over $6m last season, so no. For $2.5-3m then yeh I would take him here. Provides reasonable offense for a catcher thats not in the top tier.
November 8, 201014 yr Author I just don't see how this makes much sense, really. I don't even know why the Marlins would be rumored. On top of the fact that he's not that good, he's also a Type A free agent. He'll probably be overpaid, and we'd have to give up a top draft pick, as well. It doesn't sound like something the Marlins would do...especially for an A.J. Pierzynski. Â I'm hoping the Marlins don't sign a catcher; I'm not a fan of any of the FA catchers. Hopefully, they're able to trade for one.
November 8, 201014 yr I'm anxious to see what Davis can do in ST. Couldn't tell how well he handled pitchers last season but he threw out runners, got some timely hits, and has some pop in his bat. Unfortunately his stay didn't seem long enough to reach any firm conclusions.
November 8, 201014 yr Hell No.  I don't like him personally because he a bit of an asshole but baseball wise he's bad defensively and has declined each season at the plate. Not Worth the Money, we could hopefully get the same for less money with Paulino and a hopefully healthy Baker. Also How many games into next season in Ronnie suspended til?

It really isn't so much. I think the big deal here is whether the Marlins want to keep a guy who was on a banned substance.
November 8, 201014 yr H to the E to the Double L NO!!!!!! He's such a douche, besides Bonds my least favorite player of all-time. Personal feelings aside he's getting old and he makes too much money, money better spent on other things, not really liking the prospect of going into camp with a Davis/Hayes mix butdefinetly a pass on this.
November 9, 201014 yr For the right price why not? Hes a better option then anyone catcher on the club. I wouldnt over pay him that is for sure. Defense is a tad shaky but he can handle a staff. has some attitude which I think the club could use...
November 9, 201014 yr I'd rather just insert someone who can play defense. Its time to start helping the pitching staff with building a better defensive core.

And, if healthy, I think I'd actually rather have Baker.
November 9, 201014 yr Is he one of Ozzie's boys? If so, COME ON DOWN!!   Not really. Then f*** Him.
November 9, 201014 yr Author Apparently, everyone seems to think he'll land here... https://spreadsheets.google.com/lv?key=tA_e1uO9bmOtok7ngLx6-KA&toomany=true
November 9, 201014 yr It wouldn't make much sense unless th Marlins are looking to recklessly spend. Isn't Napoli a nontender candidate? Wed be better off spending on him.

November 9, 201014 yr Author Is John Baker's career over or something? He's just as good, only much cheaper. The only reason to want Pierzynski is to cut down on team strikeouts. He's also left-handed, for what it's worth. Not worth all the money + draft pick, though. I hope these people are wrong.

I'm also not sure I want this massive douche handling our young staff.. although from what I've gathered is he is a "love him if he's on your team" type of guy. Though it may be hard to love a guy who probably will hit .240 next year with 5 HRs and terrible defense.
