November 28, 201015 yr Trading three players for a lead off hitter sounds pretty crazy to me. Exactly what I'm thinking. I'd do for an Upton who'll put up 25+ HR 20 SB, Great Defense and in this lineup most likely 90+ RBI or 90+ Runs scored.
November 28, 201015 yr Ellsbury is always injured. Damaged goods. I wouldnt give up a single one of those players for him not named Nunez. No offense to Leo, I mean that from a $ point of view (although that doesnt seem to be an issue lately?)
November 28, 201015 yr speaking of damaged goods, grady sizemore will probably be available whenever healthy
November 28, 201015 yr Author Trading three players for a lead off hitter sounds pretty crazy to me. Exactly what I'm thinking. I'd do for an Upton who'll put up 25+ HR 20 SB, Great Defense and in this lineup most likely 90+ RBI or 90+ Runs scored. 1. That's nowhere near enough for Upton. 2. LordM - I have no idea why you're so worried about power. Not counting Uggla, we had 3 guys in the Top 40 in the NL in Home Runs. In other words, roughly average (slightly better than, but whatever). We were 7th/16 in Home Runs in the NL as a team, and while we lose Uggla, we get a full year of Mike Stanton + John Buck (we had only 9 HR from catchers last year) + Hanley is very unlikely to hit only 21 again. They should be at least average in Home Runs. 3. Ellsbury fills several needs, as outlined above, and greatly increases personnel flexibility. 4. Gaby is nice but very average with little upside; Galloway is not much of a spec; Nunez is a nice piece but he's going to be expensive (for us) and expendable given all the RPs we've picked up. The injury is the only thing that makes me hesitate.
November 28, 201015 yr It's funny that you guys wouldn't trade 3 players for Ellsbury. I'm going to assume the Galloway who was brought up = Issac Galloway, which is hilarious. Basically, a non-spectacular 1B with little upside in Gaby, an expensive reliever we probably don't even need in Nunez, and Galloway for Ellsbury? Yeah, I'd do that in a heartbeat. Galloway sucks. He's basically Kyle Skipworth, without the ability to catch or hit for power. I highly doubt any team wants him in any trade involving a significant player. Some of you might need to think it over again, or something. This isn't a video game. Other teams don't want our crappy players, regardless of whether or not we'd like to give them up. Ellsbury is a 3-4 WAR OF'er...actually capable of playing CF and starting, which no one in our organization is really capable of doing, at the moment. He'd be a very nice fit for this team, especially for the crap some of you are willing to give up to get him.
November 28, 201015 yr I am worried that .350 OBP is all he's going to bring. Otherwise, I think he would fit nicely atop the order.
November 29, 201015 yr speaking of damaged goods, grady sizemore will probably be available whenever healthy If he was fully healthy, he would be amazing for the Marlins. Not quite sure what Cleveland would want for him other than a decent haul
November 29, 201015 yr Hey. There's only room for one Dr. in this town. I would change my name to nurse marlin but...
November 29, 201015 yr Hey. There's only room for one Dr. in this town. I would change my name to nurse marlin but... In all fairness I was not a doctor until Josh Willingham was traded.
December 9, 201015 yr Crawford to the Red Sox, lets go get Ellsbury... He is their starting CF.......
December 9, 201015 yr Crawford to the Red Sox, lets go get Ellsbury... He is their starting CF....... Yea i forgot they didnt have that position filled, the only CF other than him is Cameron right? Wishful thinking....
December 9, 201015 yr Does bringing in Crawford increase or decrease Ellsbury's value? I think the boSox might be more willing to give him away for less if the trade brought back pieces that filled very specific needs.
December 9, 201015 yr Author Well, if Ellsbury is still starting, then Mike Cameron is the 4th of. Maybe he's available?
December 9, 201015 yr What do the Marlins have that the Bosox need, other than Hanley? Good point. Unlike the fish, they can just go out and buy players to fill their specific needs. Maybe we could get a third team involved like many have suggested? I still say we go get Upton from Arizona...n Im still saying we can do it without moving LoMo. Gaby, Ricky, Leo, +?
December 9, 201015 yr What do the Marlins have that the Bosox need, other than Hanley? The article I read about the acquisition of Crawford suggested Boston needs to upgrade their bullpen. So we could add Nunez into any potential deal

So we could add Nunez into any potential deal Nuñez would not upgrade their Bullpen in any way... their setup guy is better than Nuñez...If they were complainining about Paplebon ...they would run Nuñez out of town on a rail
December 10, 201015 yr Well, if Ellsbury is still starting, then Mike Cameron is the 4th of. Maybe he's available? There were reports of teams calling them for him today, and the Sox reportedly weren't interested. Ellsbury isn't exactly a sure thing, neither is Drew who will miss at least 40 games, and Papi has to be benched against most lefties at this point (who Cameron drills). Cameron is going to get at least 80+ starts plus massive defensive replacements in other games with that team as is. I don't see this as a real option unless they are overwhelmed, and that ain't Leo Nunez. Also, to keep pouring it on, Cameron is making like $7 million bucks. This one is just not happening. I think we all have to accept Coghlan is playing CF. Just pray everything is hit to Stanton or on the ground.

Bard's awesome and will be the closer, eventually. They've been wanting to get rid of Papelbon.
December 10, 201015 yr I don't see a trade happening, but to be fair Leo could work as a setup man in Boston. This is Boston. They would take on Leo to pitch garbage time. They don't care about payroll right now. I bet the sign Russel Martin and Scott Downs any second to keep piling it on.
