gizmo
Marlins lose the game, lose Dobbs, and split the series against the Cardinals.
OnTopOfPhils
f*** this sh*t. we can't score for JJ again.
gizmo
Win Volstad and Vazquez starts, lose JJ and Sanchez starts. Logic.

dom2613
Well this sucks. Getting tired of Hanley and his poor hitting.
FutureGM
I'm really confused why Edwin thought it was a good idea to let JJ go out there in the 8th (especially with the heart of the order coming up). Or if you do, at least have two guys warming up just in case.
canada-marlin24
an ok trip. not satisfied with a split and really fuming at the way we perform when josh is on the mound. this is exactly why he only had 11 wins last year. braves are playing well so we better watch our back and stop blowing games. i know we have won our share of close ones but when u have late leads like that, you gotta bring it home. Admin
JJ didnt have his best stuff today. 7 innings should have been his limit.

TrustN61
I agree. Something is up. I was expecting hensley to come in. Can someone tell me why not?

Or if you do, at least have two guys warming up just in case. he had dunn ready, whose had being pretty much automatic he failed against the one the hottest hitters in baseball. The only other thing Edwin could have done was send Choate to face Rasmus, and then call in Dunn/Hensley, but that could have also backfired. pollythewog
I was okay with letting JJ go out there to start the 8th, but wasn't okay with leaving him in after the first or 2nd man on base. It's not like his pitchcount was still under 100.

It's not like his pitchcount was still under 100. Not only that, but his control was way off all day, which would have been why I wouldn't have let him go out for the 8th at all. Before the game Edwin said that the entire bullpen was available today, but he opted not to use it, I guess.
popeyethesailor
Well you can add Johnson to the list of Volstad and Nolasco whose ERA's have been jacked up by the bullpen allowing all the inherited runs to score. Shows how very lucky Anibal ERA has been with the inherited runs for him hardly ever scoring over the years. Johnson lost a quality start by not stopping after 7 inns. He was not at his best with all those walks either.

TrustN61
I guess I'm just surprised they let jj go another inning. Seemed like he was laboring a bit and didn't have his best stuff today. I would have used hensley.

Erick
If JJ only goes 7, and the pen blows it in the 8th... "Omg, another blown save in a JJ game!!!" JJ was fine today. He had gotten the first out in the 8th. 2 of the 3 hits he allowed in the 8th were on good pitches/garbage hits. He still had his stuff. The move wasn't wrong. I would have used hensley. He had dominated the inning before, and he was probably at his best late in the game. And Hensley's been unreliable this year. TrustN61
I'm sorry. I was confusing the 6th with the 7th. He had problems in the 6th. But none in the 7th. Edwin did the right thing. Oops. Looked at pbp again.
HitDaCycle
I missed this game but can someone tell me now how many games we lost with JJ starting? How odd is it that our best pitcher and we lose? This is reminding me of last year where JJ kept getting screwed by the bullpen. Again, I didn't see the game though so I don't know what happened but you normally feel like with JJ on the mound we should have that game won. I believe we've lost at least two games now with JJ pitching? I'm not sure because for some reason or another, I keep missing the games when JJ starts. Anyway, sucks we lost. Worse yet, Dobbs is hurt! We seem to continue to have bad luck with player health..

Matty
I'd have taken 2-2 from the series if it was offered before the start of it. They are a fantastic batting side and our offence dont always show up. It's sad that we bottled the win but just another game. Roll on the next lot.

I like leaving him in the game, Dunn giving up the blast is another thing all together. The one thing that irritates me is that it ALWAYS seems to happen during JJ starts.
