But Rab, I gotta ask... what did u mean by the 5 Marlins who never got a chance?

5 people have played baseball for the Florida Marlins but have never played in JRS (as Marlins).

I don't know how you know that...

Actually, checking it now, I was just off.

In parenthesis is numbers of games played as a Fish.

That makes it 6 people to play for the Marlins but never play at JRS.

rot in hell, Dolphin Stadium

Everyone in attendance should wear nothing.

I like/dislike the sound of that.

.

Not if its Bronco Bob.......that could give us nightmares for years

(just funnin' with ya Bob don't take it personal)

I think the only orange shirts I have are old Broncos' jerseys. Not appropriate at all.

My choice is an original 1993 shirt with the Marlins' logo flying out of the stadium with "Joe Robbie Stadium" in big letters across the bottom. Can't think of anything that would be more appropriate. Maybe wear a 1993 batting helmet, but I would have to dig around in the attic for it. Really doubt that happens. Maybe wear that hard hat that season ticket holders got last year or the year before. Black, Marlins on the sides, and the new ball park label on the front. Kinda out with the old, in with the new.

Marlins unveil plans for historic closing day at Sun Life Stadium

MIAMI- After nineteen seasons, over 1,500 games and two World Series titles, the Marlins and their fans are ready to say goodbye to Sun Life Stadium. The team will be playing its final game as the Florida Marlins on Wednesday, September 28. The Club will evolve into the Miami Marlins on November 11th and officially open the doors to the New Marlins Ballpark in Miami next April.

Throughout the game, fans can win Florida Marlins autographed and game-used memorabilia.

To commemorate the 19 seasons as the Florida Marlins, the Club will host a special post-game on-field ceremony, during which the Florida Marlins All-Time team will be unveiled, as selected by the fans in an online voting campaign. The historic Closing Day will also feature the Top 10 Memories in Florida Marlins history, also voted on by the fans.

Scheduled attendees include Kurt Abbott, Antonio Alfonseca, Moises Alou, Alex Arias, Bruce Aven, Rickey Bones, Bobby Bonilla, Kevin Brown, Luis Castillo, Greg Colbrunn, Jeff Conine, Reid Cornelius, Andre Dawson, Alex Fernandez, Cliff Floyd, Chris Hammond, Lenny Harris, Bryan Harvey, Livan Hernandez, Charlie Hough, Charles Johnson, Josh Johnson, Rene Lachemann, Al Leiter, Mike Lowell, Josias Manzanillo, Jack McKeon, Robb Nen, Vladimir Nunez, Tony Perez, Mike Piazza, Scott Pose, Hanley Ramirez, Pat Rapp, Ivan Rodriguez, Cookie Rojas, Benito Santiago, Gary Sheffield, Julian Tavarez, Tony Taylor, Michael Tejera and Preston Wilson. Mike Piazza is showing up? That's a little weird.

Says f***ing Who? You got a god damn problem with that? I'm f***ing ecstatic. I finally get to finish out my 11th Birthday wish, See my favorite player represent the Florida Marlins! I cried that day I found out he was traded already. I freaking cried, and cried when Vanbiesbrouck left later that summer as well!

I went to the May 23rd Game, my birthday, expecting to see him!!! Now I'll see him in JRS representing the Marlins 13 Years Later!

WOOOOOOHOOOOOO!!!

Quite honestly, I don't see what the big deal is.

They aren't leaving town. This isn't the last game at Fenway Park or a historic stadium. They are leaving a football stadium that was usually 80% empty for most games and it wasn't even theirs.

The last game should be a celebration because now they'll have their own stadium, which will be one of the best in the league.

says Marlins fans. Mike Piazza's a Met

Piazzas as much a former marlin as aven, manzaillo , and bones.

Not to mention Piazza's lived in Miami since college at UM an MDCC.

I'm just wondering who Bruce Aven is? Was Kevin Orie and Brant Browne not available?

It's cool that Lach is going to be there. I would also like to see people like Bret Barbarie and Orestes Destrade

Because it's the last game of the Florida Marlins and the stadium, which wasn't theirs, still held some amazing memories.

Wish I could make it, but with a mortgage and bills to pay it makes it hard to get down there from NC. It's going to be a memorable day.

To each his own.

Its the last game of the season in a crappy stadium. I'd rather spend the Sunday watching the NFL than watching the a team that is 30 games out of first place.

I will be very excited for the opener next April.
