December 8, 201114 yr We're not overrated. We're not as powerful as we think we are, however.. All of these signings indicate a definite "Win now" attitude, and this current team, even with Bell, Beurhle and Reyes, can't win now without more additions.
December 8, 201114 yr I've realized. I'm clueless right now. lulz. And ignorant. Fixed it for you. Let's see if more fans come to the games first.. Especially where the ballpark is at.. Little Havana. This may turn into a big ball of failure!
December 8, 201114 yr Really people. If yesterday, after Buerhle, we pulled out of Wilson and Pujols, with Wilson signing wherever today and Pujols staying in St. Louis... would anyone be disappointed with Bell, Reyes, and Buerhle? I think it's just coming from seeming so close and then losing out to the same team on both guys.
December 8, 201114 yr does anyone know what our payroll is at now?? with all that money not spent there has to be more room.

December 8, 201114 yr does anyone know what our payroll is at now?? with all that money not spend there has to be more room. I heard on mlb that this coming year it will only be a 25 million dollar jump in payroll (backloaded deals), so 57+25= 82 mill
December 8, 201114 yr Author Wonder what Gaby's thinking about these days... "Yummy, Yummy, Yummy. I got love in my tummy, and I feel like a-lovin you"
December 8, 201114 yr The addition of Reyes is significant. Our production from the 3B position has been garbage for years now. Adding Reyes and being able to move Hanley to 3B is a significant upgrade for us. Buehrle (especially with the move over to the NL) is an upgrade over Vazquez (not saying Vazquez was bad last year, 3.2 WAR, but Buehrle is a better pitcher). We'll add another rotation arm, I'm sure. Based on WAR, it's fair to say Bell is worth an extra win replacing Nunez-Oviedo. This doesn't even include a healthy Josh Johnson. And I'm not even talking about a full year either. I'm talking 180 innings of Josh Johnson. 180 innings of Josh Johnson was worth over 6 wins above replacement in 2010. He could miss a couple of starts if he wants. Just don't repeat the 60 inning thing of last year. And maybe Nolasco will live up to his peripherals one year. Seriously, it has to happen ONE year, right? Just one.

Might as well spend big and spend to win now. Not later.. If later even becomes an option.
December 8, 201114 yr We'll add another rotation arm, I'm sure. Well, something like this is the key to everything. All these signing are awesome to show that the Marlins are trying to become a real team and not the joke of the league, but as "win now" signings, I don't think it's enough to go from last place to a playoff team, even with a healthy JJ.

If we're healthy, this team can win. Now. May I ask what the glaring weakness is right now that we just absolutely cannot win now?

December 8, 201114 yr why does everyone think we cant get fielder? Are you guys listening to the supposed offers we sent to Pujols and CJ? 275 and 100.. thats insane It appears that fielders body is a turnoff to the marlins, and he cant be marketed in south florida like Pujols, but that a bit of b.s. The d-train and J.P are loved down here, and so are the heat. Miami loves stars regardless of color, but yea if they speak spanish a huge bonus.

Yeah, there are reports saying the Marlins don't want Fielder because he doesn't appeal to the latin market. That is such BS. Winning appeals to any market. I don't want Fielder for his body, however. He could break down within a few years if he doesn't get into shape. That man needs to be a DH later in his career.

I heard on mlb that this coming year it will only be a 25 million dollar jump in payroll (backloaded deals), so 57+25= 82 mill still more holes to fill and many people have said Loria already approved 100 million.

Our offense is as good as any offense in the division. The holes in the rotation are being completely overblown now with the Buehrle addition. Our rotation will only be a weakness if Josh Johnson decides to only give us 60 innings again.
December 8, 201114 yr Our offense is not as good as any offense in the division if you actually go by statistics. Also, Beurhle is just replacing Vazquez, so we are basically back to square one.
December 8, 201114 yr Our offense is not as good as any offense in the division if you actually go by statistics. By statistics, you mean in an injury-riddled, completely down year for half the offense? This offense now can stack up against any other team in this division.
December 8, 201114 yr chillax...we'll get another solid starter. this team would have made the stinkin' playoffs last year if hanley hadn't disappeared and JJ stayed healthy.

December 8, 201114 yr Our offense is not as good as any offense in the division if you actually go by statistics. Also, Beurhle is just replacing Vazquez, so we are basically back to square one. Which offense in the division is better? Especially now with the Phillies losing Ryan Howard for months. Which statistics are you using? Should we expect Hanley Ramirez to perform exactly like he performed last year when he's clearly better than that? Should we not expect Stanton, Morrison, and Gaby to improve heading into their third season in the big leagues (not that it matters, since they're already pretty damn good as it is)? Is Jose Reyes not a significant upgrade? Regarding the pitching, you just proved my point. Our pitching would've been just fine last year had our ace pitched more than 60 innings. Hence the reason why I said it would only be a weakness if he does that again. Buehrle replaces Vazquez; Buehrle is a better pitcher than Vazquez, so... Our bullpen which was pretty good last year has a good chance to be elite now, as well, replacing Leo with Bell. Looks pretty good to me. Especially since it's only December.
