March 11, 201214 yr After being hit with a pitch in today's game, Stanton exited with a left wrist contusion. He's now having x-rays done at a local hospital. Update: X-Rays were negative
March 11, 201214 yr He didn't look like he was in a lot of pain and the wrist and hand have a lot of nerve endings. I'm no doc, but I think Giancarlo is day to day and will probably sit a few out
March 11, 201214 yr The Mets announcers seemed excited, hoping he was done for the season. After the pitch hit him, they said "boy, not something Marlins fans want to see!" about three times.
March 11, 201214 yr Hope it's not as serious as when I hurt my left wrist a few weeks ago...Was just a bad bruise but seemingly took forever for the pain to go away. Worst part was I could barely workout because it hurt my wrist when I tried to lift weights.
March 11, 201214 yr Contustion -> fancy word for bruise I am a doctor. Lets hope x-rays show nothing is broken. He should be fine, hopefully just precautionary.
March 11, 201214 yr Bad news. Reports are he broke his Metacorpis and tore his MCP. Could be 2-4 months. JK... I just made that up.

March 11, 201214 yr According to Rotoworld there have been times where the Marlins have said a player had a simple bruise before x-rays revealed a fracture...Guess there's no real way to be sure without an x-ray.
March 11, 201214 yr Marlins have already said that Stanton won't travel to Ft. Myers tomorrow. No point of risking anything. The Marlins trainers said they don't think he broke his wrist, but again, there's no real way of knowing anything for sure without x-rays. Stanton said his hand isn't too bad right now & that it simply "locked up" right after it was hit. He predicts it will be "nice and fat" tomorrow.
March 11, 201214 yr For those who are curious, Mike, I mean Giancarlo, got hit by Chris Schwinden who had just entered the game with the bases loaded.
March 11, 201214 yr Not sure how similar the injuries are, but how long did Lowell miss in '03 when he broke his wrist? Then again, both had different kind of bodies, and one is really young.
March 11, 201214 yr Almonte from the Expos hit Lowell in 03. Mike missed 32 games. Héctor Almonte played 15 for the Marlins in 99 and was in the minors until 01. He then left to Japan, Red Sox and Expos. He played in the minors until 2009 in the Golden Baseball League. Edit: My bad. He missed 26 games. He was injured on August 30th, and he came back on the last game on the regular season against the Mets, September 28th.

March 11, 201214 yr Interestingly, Stanton led the team last season being hit by a pitch 9 times... EDIT: And at least 3 of those pitches were on his hands! Stanton said in reference to that: "Those aren't fun,' he said. "Aim for the ass. More meat." LOL!!!!
March 11, 201214 yr Dim should write an article about how f***ed up we'd be without Stanton like he did last year.
March 11, 201214 yr You guys could watch a video of the pitch here: http://miami.marlins...ok_mia&c_id=mia
