Keeping up with ex-Marlins

Hey, do me a favor. Go look up Chris Aguila's stats from when he was 25-27 in AAA.

Two differences

Aguila's was in Alb.

Aguila isn't a plus defender in CF and plus runner.

There's certainly no way he's a 900+ OPS bat. But if he's a .700+ OPS bat (And considering the increase power he's shown the past few years, mid .700+ is not unreachable) he has the other factors to make him valuable. The thing is, we got rid of him to make room on the 40 man roster. If this was a 25 man thing, I wouldn't have cared so much. After his '09 campaign, he was young enough and showed enough improvement that he warranted a spot on the 40 man roster imo (And this isn't hindsight, I said as much back then. I remember specifically complaining we kept Jai Miller on the 40 over him out of ST).

The FO is also a lot more experimental in CF though, when you look that our CFers the past two years are Coghlan and Bonifacio (Two IFers) and our starter before that plus our back ups now and then are labeled tweeners. In the regards to the tweeners, that makes me happy because that's normally not a fair label (Cousins and Carroll specifically play a mean CF and Cody had his defensive up and downs). Coghlan I didn't like and I'm not sold on Bonifacio as more than a 650 bat yet but hopefully I'm wrong there.

So having a "True" CF as a starter/on bench isn't something they care about as much, which is part of what my complaint was

There is Cody Ross with the Red Sox. Let's watch what happens there.

But more important to me is Alex Gonzalez who keeps going. He was really good at base and sorry we lost him.

There is Juan Pierre who after all these years deserves to rest, lol.

"The Hammer" just hit his second home run of the year for the Twins.

Always love seeing Willingham doing well.

That's one dude who could be a Brave and I'd still root for him. He looked like Niner part two.

Could he be a Philly?

I don't hate the Phillies to the same degree, I have a lot of respect for them. There's nothing like hating the Braves, considering how insanely popular they used to be around here.

I love the updates on former Marlins but I'd also be interested in former Marlins who are now retired. Sort of a "Where are they now" type of deal. Love that Preston Wilson and Cliff Floyd have been making appearances on the telecasts. After watching the ceremony at Fenway today, I'd love to see the Marlins building and maintaining relationships with their former players.

Why? Gaby is a better hitter, and Coghlan is awful in left. Logan is supposed to be good at 1B, but Gaby was above-average last year, anyway. Normalize Coghlan's BABIP and his rookie year wasn't better than what Sanchez has done 2 years straight.

Coghlan may not have been better than Sanchez, but he is younger, left-handed, and allows us to get LoMo over to first. If performance is equal, the choice is easy.

We have a winner.

Lomo is the future, Gaby is only an inexpensive option to fill a roster slot. Lomo shows signs that we will not be able to remain healthy in left. Thus, move Lomo to 1B and make do in LF.

Kurt Abbott, retired Marlin turned Sheriff Deputy arrested for DWI. Had a lot of respect for him before this.

Wow, that is shocking. Just goes to show it can happen even to the best of us. Hopefully he just gets desk duty and doesn't lose his job. He's dont alot for the broward community if I recall.
