floridafly
The Marlins have acquired outfielder Justin Ruggiano from the Astros in exchange for minor league catcher Jobduan Morales, according to Alyson Footer of the Astros Seems like little risk, little reward. For what it's worth, he's tearing up AAA. .325/.409/.581. Maybe something will happen. Or it won't. I don't know. Discuss.

Entendu
I was hoping they'd go out and get a good OF'er that we could keep in the lineup once Boni comes back.
Jonny Ramos
Don't we need to develop catchers?... I'm pretty sure Buck or Hayes are not long term solutions.
poptart
Don't we need to develop catchers?... I'm pretty sure Buck or Hayes are not long term solutions. chill. we have Skipworth (132 AB, 50 K, .182 AVG)
Erick
At least he's a good defensive outfielder. Not sure but I believe he's capable of playing CF, as well. Right-handed bat; hopefully he's capable of hitting lefties better than he has in a short sample of AB's in the big leagues.

Michael
Uhhhh ok this trade means nothing. I thoughtnthey were goin to call cousins up. We needed a righty outfield bat for the bench *shrug* I mean, our outfield is mostly lefties right now. Petersen, Coghlan, Dobbs, LoMo. We need a guy to fill the void of a righty outfield bat [solano isn't an outfielder by any means] til Kearns gets back.

And if it's for a nobody who hasn't played this year, why not?

Especially considering it was his first attempt at it. Even had that assist at 2B if Omar had been able to hold onto it. I'm more concerned with his offense. Let's wait and see how he adjusts to the adjustments opposing pitchers are sure to make. I have high hopes, but willing to be patient. He misjudged a pretty simple fly ball that, only due to how high it was, he still caught. He's an infielder, he's not an outfielder. Coghlan, same thing, basically, but he's been in the outfield for so long he's probably forgotten how to field a grounder from 115 feet away. LoMo, well ... we've all exercised that one enough. fanofthefish
With the trade of Morales the Marlins have just four of their top ten picks from the 2009 draft still in the system, one of those Bryan Berglund has yet to throw a pitch for the organization. The others still left from the top ten are Chad James, Josh Hodges and Matt Montgomery. Unless Kyle Jensen, Brent Keys or Michael Brady develop this could be the Marlins worst draft ever.
