Report: Marlins open to moving Hanley Ramirez

6:47pm: With Ramirez owed roughly $38.5MM for the remainder of his contract, rival executives say the Marlins would have to pick up a substantial portion of that money in any deal, reports Buster Olney of ESPN.com. As well, some teams think Ramirez is not a third baseman, though they might try him again at shortstop (Twitter links).

I think the Marlins would be willing to pick up the majority of the salary if the prospects they got back are good enough.

I see the marlins picking a large part of Hanleys contract only, and only if they get top prospects in the deal. Anything short of that, and it does not really help the team.

He's not going anywhere.

Which is sad IMO. I am of the opinion that Hanley will never be the Hanley of the monster year. The present Hanley is the one we will see from now on. Maybe gets on a hot streak here and there, but at best he will be a .280 hitter.

But nothing you can do.

He's not going anywhere.

Squall you shouldn't make these statements. You told us Pujols was a done deal and that Hanley was gonna shove it up all his haters asses this year. Neither happened. Since I know you want him to stay it is for your benefit.

I can't find myself getting that excited over any of the A's prospects.

Peacock's having a god awful season, Michael Choice strikes out a ton, and AJ Cole is in single A.

That Parker RHP is not half bad. He could be a good starting prospect.

Cespedes???

I assume Oakland wants to win now. I don't see them trading away a piece like Cespedes for Hanley.

Cespedes???

If we trade with the A's it will be for pitching. A's have a lot of Pitching, but are the worst at hitting, hence why they are trying to improve.

So look for pitching prospects from that trade.

Parker, Peacock, Gray all intriguing pitching prospects in the A's system

Yep thats the only route I would be willing to take if I was a GM.

He's not going anywhere.

Pujols IS here, though. We have a Pujols in our minor league system.

Squall didn't specify which Pujols.

Isn't Parker their best pitcher in the system

Yes but I think a deal could be done if you threw in a Nolasco. At least I would think so but maybe not.

i would trade hanley and nolasco for parker and a good prospect. throw in choate or something.

jj, turner, parker, fernandez, and many others for the future?
