Gaby Sanchez to Pirates for Gorkys Hernandez

Fernandez is probably 2 years away minimum. He's moving a little faster than expected, but I don't know how long that will last. When he gets to AA we'll get a better idea.

Why do we keep leaving Ruggiano out of lineups? Why wouldn't he be in your lineup H2R? He's been our best player this year.

I think Yelich is alot more ML ready than Cox.

What? How is that? Cox played in college and has had 3 years in the minors. Yelich was a HS draft pick and is still in High A. Realistically we're looking at late 2013 unless he has an amazing spring and we aren't spending the money on another outfielder.

I thought Yelich was in AA, I stand corrected. I don't think either are ready but I guess sometimes you gotta throw them in the fire and see what happens. And it's not like we have better options so I get it.

The last thing you want to do in a system that has few prospects is rush the remaining good ones. It's not like we're going to be very playoff-competitive for the next two years.

But in the future we have a lineup of

C- Brantly/ Realmuto

1b- Lomo

2b- Boni

SS- Reyes

3b- hanl.... ummm free agent or Cox

Lf- Hamilton/Ethier/Swisher

Cf-Ruggiano

RF- Stanton

with a rotation of

JJ

Buehrle

Fernandez

Turner

Eovaldi

that is just what we have right now without free agency. we are looking pretty good. We do need that 1 more middle of the lineup power run producer

This.

who are the best free agent outfield bats aside from hamilton this year?

It's probably safe the say the Marlins main targets this offseason will be Michael Bourn/Melky Cabrera/BJ Upton/Shane Victorino, with the first three set to get a nice chunk of change.

All those players have their flaws, but fit a need in CF.

I'm not sure why you would even want to overpay for Hamilton the way he's been hitting the last two months.

Ethier's not worth the money either, Swisher even less so.

I would love a Bourn or even Upton, but those guys are going to cost a lot more than I believe the FO will be willing to spend.

I'd love to sign Melky but he'll probably get huge money that is far overpaying him.

I like Swisher, Pagan, Upton, Bourn, Victorino and Cody Ross from that list.

This. I've seen many people mention Hamtilton a FA they want, but don't realize that he's going to want a lot of years and there's going to be a team or two that drive the price so far up it wouldn't be worth it. If people didn't want Prince for 6 years because of future productivity issues then they shouldn't want Hamilton either who has injury issues as well as personal issues that can affect play down the line.

Wouldn't want Upton either, just a terrible hitter overall who also has injury issues himself. Bourn is a guy I wouldn't mind going after, but it seems like we need to find a way to add some extra pop into the lineup. Giancarlo can't be the only deep threat in the lineup.

Hamilton is going to get a very large contract from somebody. He'll probably be the biggest FA on the market.

Cody Ross is a terrible idea and I think people are being a bit too nostalgic with him. He's playing so far over his head right now it's crazy. If he keeps it up someone will overbid for him in the offseason and really regret it.

Victorino or Bourn would be nice, but Bourn in particular is going to be looking for a very long-term deal and I doubt the team is going to want to give him that.

I like Bourn but we need another run producer. Adding Bourn is not the answer for this team.

So Ross has been playing over his head for three seasons now? At what point does playing over his head stop?

I can see us going after Bourne. He's a better version of Boni or Bonifacio esque as penguino would say. Beinfest seems infatuated with those guys.

Bottom line: rather than fire one lousy batting coach, we trade away 3/4 of our opening day IF --all of whom are relatively young and are 3 years removed from being allstars, plus-320 hitters, or in Hanley's case, both.

Genius.

For sh'ts and giggles, can someone pls post Hanley's, Gaby's, and LoMos OPS pre- and post-Eduardo?

Next year will suck almost as much as this year. It will suck less not because we'll win more games (we won't) but at least next year we will expect to suck.

Well LoMo has been hurt and that's affected his play, Hanley was awful last year and Gaby was terrible in the second half of the year even before Perez was hired, so he didn't really negatively affect any of them

Didn't Hanley, Gaby, and LoMo also struggle before Perez was hired last year? I'm not saying Perez is a good coach, but to blame all of the team's struggles on him is just silly. Beyond that, I refuse to believe that the team is forcing Ozzie (who they are paying a lot of money to win ball games) to keep a terrible hitting coach if he thinks he's a problem. Maybe I'm wrong, but this season has been a disaster on many levels...Don't you think that if they thought the solution was to simply replace the hitting coach, they would have done it?

Sanchez slumped in the 2nd half of 2010 as well...and I'm going to go out on a limb and say someone doesn't go from quality hitter to sucking because of a new hitting coach.
