Posted July 23, 201311 yr #Marlins trade AAA OF Gorkys Hernandez to #Royals for high-A/AA SS Alex McClure. Per Juan Rodriguez. Terrible trade. McClure is a horrendous hitter in Single-A at age 24. He has literally never posted an OPS over .600 in any season, on any team, in the minors... Gorkys may not have had a future here, but he is still worth something. Was positing an OPS over .700 with 20+ stolen bases in triple-A and can play good defense in all three OF spots. Not that I liked Gorkys, but not a good trade.
July 24, 201311 yr Please explain where Gorkys ever had a chance of playing? Yelich, stanton, marsinick, ozuna are all young and gorkys is well below these guys
July 24, 201311 yr I mean the Marlins gave Matt Diaz and Jordan Brown call ups instead of him, obviously he wasn't going to get playing time at any point in the near future
July 24, 201311 yr Doesn't matter, just puts a player at a weaker position in our system...while moving someone at a stronger position. Its not like hell be expected to provide any time in the mlb.

July 24, 201311 yr I just find this funny cuz a year ago when we got gorkys the team praised him as being the type of speed and defense player who we wanna build around here. He wasn't very good but considering the praise the team gave him im pretty shocked he didn't get more of a shot here especially in 2013

July 24, 201311 yr Does he really offer any more than Ruggiano though? Neither are a future starter, and I'd say Ruggs plays that 4th OF position better....even given his terrible slump.
