December 4, 201312 yr Heaney has a shot to be a really good #2... He has 0 shot to be Jose-esque. I think he'll be a #2 as well in the end but I don't think it's impossible he's a Jose type ace.
December 4, 201312 yr Frisaro brought this thing up on Twitter which I thought was kind of interesting. He used 1/25 and I'm sure he was joking, but for the purpose of playing a game... Cano came into the offseason expecting 300+ million according to rumors. Rumors now have him possibly not reaching 200 million. Fangraphs played a game last year in the middle of the season asking how much people would pay for one year of Mike Trout. As of right now, the hole on our team is the infield. Our pitching is pretty good and has some good depth. We have a potential superstar in our OF (Stanton) and a guy who could become pretty good quickly (Yelich). Saltalamacchia makes the catching situation better. Say you take a chance with Dietrich/Morrison on the corners (maybe sign a couple of cheap RH bats to platoon them)... How much would you pay for one year of Robinson Cano?
December 4, 201312 yr Guys great signing today. Keep getting these battle tested guys. Napoli, you're next buddy!! We went from a 62 win team to a 69 win team. 23 more to go.

December 4, 201312 yr thank you sir....I didnt know how to make it all nice and legible lol Obviously...it is not fair to think that Heaney is on Jose's UPPER ELITE OF ELITE echelon......but damn he could be great in his own right.

December 4, 201312 yr The Marlins have nothing good enough to get Baez unless they're trading Stanton which, quite honestly, is not something I'd be opposed to. It would be Stanton for Baez+ of course, not straight up. You'd want that? Depending on what the + would be, I wouldn't mind. Stanton's great, but I believe this team would be better quicker if they got the best possible return for him. A player like Baez would be a good starting point. I would probably deal Stanton for Baez and Soler with an additional B prospect.
December 4, 201312 yr Heany was 22. Fernandez 19. Big difference This, too.Thats a fair point....but i think that says more about how much of a boss Jose is than anything about Heaney.

December 4, 201312 yr I don't see why the Cubs would do the trade. They need pitching. Trading their stud hitting prospects for Stanton doesnt accomplish anything for them.
December 4, 201312 yr Author How much would you pay for one year of Robinson Cano? With that team I'd spend a ton. Stanton and Cano in their prime? Maybe 30-35 mil? With the potential of the outfield to break out I would go all in, sky's the limit. 'Course it's easy when it's not my money. Yelich LF, LoMo 1B, Cano 2B, Stanton RF, Salty C, Ozuna CF, Dietrich 3B, Hech SS A bat like that could push them into the playoffs if Yelich & Ozuna basically do what they did last season. Would certainly be a fun experiment. Ok back to reality
December 4, 201312 yr Author Guys it's not a knock on Andrew Heaney to say that he's probably not going to be Jose Fernandez. Personally I don't want to deal Heaney because I'm counting on him being a really good #2. We want a great rotation, not just a good one. The Nationals staff is ridiculous.

December 4, 201312 yr Yelich LF, LoMo 1B, Cano 2B, Stanton RF, Salty C, Ozuna CF, Dietrich 3B, Hech SS Ew, 3 straight lefties. Bat Ozuna 2nd and LoMo 5th. Gosh.
December 4, 201312 yr If you had to pick an order for the nl east right now, what would it be? I have 1 atl 2 was 3 phi 4 Mia 5 nym
December 4, 201312 yr Obviously Jose is on another level....I mean he was a top 5 pitcher in the MAJORS his rookie season. Lets compare Heaney to the other pitchers in our system though. Itll be interesting to see how the front office views him compared to Eovaldi, Turner, DeSclafani, Nicolino, Conley, etc. As talented as Heaney is.... if the front office is inclined to believe we have comparable young pitchers maybe they should think to deal him.
