i just base it on reputation. Plus jose is a better player than these 2. When he pitches, he is immediately effective. With the other 2 , not so much. Both stanton and yelich have talent, but i can search the league and find better ones.

He could actually demand a trade tomorrow (well, this offseason, because we're past the non-waiver deadline) if he wanted to.  All he has to do is publicly waive his no-trade clause.  That would have the effect of forcing management to trade him.

Yeah you are right. Add in Casey to that mix hopefully! The Marlins are obsessed with trying to catch lightning in a bottle all the time. It has worked before back in the past but you can't keep going to the well and expecting to get the best water all the time. Eventually you are going to get crap here and there.

 

The SP is a definite area of upgrade that will be addressed. Next thing you want to look at it. Is the backup catcher, bench spots, and first base. How will Ozuna perform the rest of the season. Since coming back I guess he is okay, but he is a different hitter when he has Stanton and Yelich surrounding him. 

 

The bullpen is interesting just because you have some young arms that can throw hard out there. Ellington and Barraclough. You also want to see how AJ Ramos does the rest of the season and how Capps responds the next series if he is activated by then.

If the Marlins were serious about building a winning organization and getting back to the World Series which Loria claims is the goal then they should do some of the following if not all:

 

1) Fire the front office.  All of them.  You have to change the culture of this organization. 

 

2) Hire someone who is in complete control of baseball operations. 

 

3) Make a decision that you are either going to spend money in development of players or you will just try to buy major leaguers. 

 

These are the top 3 things they should do.  If they choose to not do #2, then they at least need to hire a General Manager who has a vision and let him execute that vision with little interference from ownership, only then will you see things turn around.

 

As long as this front office remains in place, nothing is truly going to change.

 

Glad to see Jeff Loria has managed to do none of this.
