Throughout all these trade rumors, there's one guy's name I have not heard mentioned once. Granted, his trade value may be down at the moment, but if I were a team building for the future I would trade for him. I would hate to lose this guy, but he isn't helping our team this year and he plays a position where we have depth. You look at the haul the Phillies got for Ken Giles, and perhaps the answer is to deal Carter Capps.

He's got no value right now.

If I'm a Marlins fan, I'd be not happy

Just out of curiosity, if you're not a Marlins what are you doing here?  Former Marlins fan maybe? I'm not trying to be confrontational.

He was a Marlins fan from 1993-2011 and a big one at that. When they made that trade with Toronto, it was the last straw for him

Capps has more value than arguably any player in our entire minor league system. His value is less than if he was healthy, but he doesn't have no value. Teams have drafted players in the first round with TJ surgery. Jose had TJ surgery. Teams aren't scared away by TJ like before. If you were a GM, would you rather trade for Capps or Flores? Capps or Urena? What assets do we have better than Capps? Naylor?

That's a draft, you aren't losing someone. no team is going to trade their top tier pitcher for someone coming off an injury as severe as TJ and hasn't really sniffed the bigs yet. Very risky.

That's the plan, this is his 2nd of 3 "skips" during the season so he has IP left for September and October

It's official,Chen for first game and followed by Koehler and Conley,I would rather Conley for the first game but maybe it's something about the innings limit for Conley's first full major league season.

exactly. Capps is still extremely valuable esp w the club control. You don't pitch literally they greatest 23 innings in baseball history and become worthless even if TJ is involved

Seriously !? we already know what Urena would do with our team and what Guthrie and Luebke would do with other teams, but AT LEAST we still not know what the latter two would do with OUR TEAM,right ?

That's not the way it works. Guthrie would still suck here.

The trade that was terrible for Toronto made Das give up on the Marlins.

You are losing someone in the draft when you take a player with TJ - you are losing the heathy player you could have drafted. It's no difference trading for a player with TJ. I'm not saying we can get a top tier starter for him alone, my point is, he is one of our best assets and can not help our team this year. Again I ask, list me assets in our minor league system you as a GM would take over Capps, who has proven himself against MLB competition. The list can't be long. And as a reliever, you don't have to worry about innings limits for when he returns.

Of course that's true. But we are in a pennant hunt looking to add a quality starter and our minor league system is awful. If he's a top asset, we still may have to move him for what his present value is.

Not much of a fan if that Toronto trade did it for him permanently. I was mad then too, as were we all, but I didn't jump off the ship.

He was a huge fan in 1993, he was not at that same level anymore by 2011 due to previous shenanigans by ownership so it was the last move for him.

I know, I've heard his story before and that's fair. Just saying, he's had plenty of time to jump back on board since that trade which wasn't so bad after all.
