July 14, 201610 yr The trade that was terrible for Toronto made Das give up on the Marlins. One fire sale too many. No matter the result. Sent from my iPhone using MarlinsBaseball.com mobile app
July 14, 201610 yr I know, I've heard his story before and that's fair. Just saying, he's had plenty of time to jump back on board since that trade which wasn't so bad after all. It wasn't just that trade. I can't support that piece of shit loria basically. Sent from my iPhone using MarlinsBaseball.com mobile app
July 14, 201610 yr One fire sale too many. No matter the result. Sent from my iPhone using MarlinsBaseball.com mobile app yeah! We should've kept Josh Johnson, and Buehrle and Reyes! We would've been awesome! Oh and John Buck for sure
July 14, 201610 yr He has never really been great in huge pressure situations over his career. Sent from my iPhone using MarlinsBaseball.com mobile app Has he been involved in many big games or is it a small sample size?
July 14, 201610 yr Has he been involved in many big games or is it a small sample size? 53 batters faced in the postseason with a 1.5 whip. Sent from my iPhone using MarlinsBaseball.com mobile app
July 14, 201610 yr Pomeranz is going to the Red Sox. Not that we had the prospects to get him, but he would have been my top choice.

July 14, 201610 yr Heck of a return for the Padres. That's one less team to compete with for Santana, Odorizzi, Hill. Now we just need the Rangers to trade for Locke or Neise
July 14, 201610 yr Probably been talked about already, but white sox have a need for a center fielder. Do you think we have what it takes to pry Sale away? Obviously we have no minor league depth, but Ozuna is young and VERY controllable and cheap so maybe?

July 14, 201610 yr I think some people here are being delusional about what pieces the Marlins can acquire. The farm system is so shitty, the Marlins can probably only land someone marginally better than they have now. They aren't going to get a #3. If someone like Drew Pomeranz can net the Padres a good prospect like Espinoza, we're not getting anyone.

July 14, 201610 yr He was a Marlins fan from 1993-2011 and a big one at that. When they made that trade with Toronto, it was the last straw for him Oh the Toronto trade where the Marlins torched the Blue Jays? K.
July 14, 201610 yr FWIW, Espinoza is struggling mightily in A ball at 18. I hope that puts things in perspective for everyone saying Naylor sucks because he's not lighting the world on fire in A ball at 19.

At that stage in their careers, scouting matters much more than results. I'm not as low on Naylor as some others are, but I think a lot of people here are valuing him as a first round pick, which he was, but should not have been. Naylor would not be in the realm of, "untouchable" if he had been drafted in the third, fourth, or fifth round where he likely should have been.
July 14, 201610 yr End result is good, but the situation at the time wasn't. Which means if he was really such a big fan he'd be back by now.

Completely agree on the scouting vs results assessment. Everyone in that league is in a developmental stage. Another thing to consider is the level of high school baseball in Canada. They are subpar to say the least so it should've been known right away that he will face challenges early in development. I actually like the way he is producing all things considering
