Das Texan
Yankees are not ready to be winner, I know the Marlins aren't either but they have a better chance than the Yankees not true.
TaiwanMarlins
Nope he will be getting 1.19 million until 2035 http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/16650867/why-mets-pay-bobby-bonilla-119-million-today-every-july-1-2035 I remember read this story before. TaiwanMarlins
what an ass, I knew somehow the marlins offered was better than the Yankees, I guess he hates Miami It's the difference between the Yankee and the Marlins, the Yankee always win the bidding war with the lowest offer and the Marlins always lose the bidding war with the highest offer. SilverBullet
Then he would do something like Cespedes. Which is kinda the point. I don't think the Marlins want these guys more than 2 years even though they're offering 5.
Entendu
The issue with these stupid opt-out clauses is that, if the player starts to suck (which is a very real possibility nowadays), then the team will be hampered significantly by the salary. It's fucking stupid in most cases and will eventually blow up in someone's face bad enough that it'll scare most teams from doing it. This is something the Yankees and Dodgers can do. Not the fucking Marlins
SilverBullet
Yeah opt outs are being overused and abused and are getting ridiculous and they usually don't benefit the club. But they're just in style now and I hope clubs get smarter and start using them to their advantage. Throw in a bunch of opt outs for Jansen and hope he isn't here past 2018 if that. canada-marlin24
They really need to get the new tv deal. Its ridiculous how bad the deal is compared to far less marketable teams like San Diego and Arizona.
Entendu
We should make a deal with Netflix.
TaiwanMarlins
Why have only opt-out clauses for players and have not the same opt-out clauses for teams ?

SilverBullet
Why have only opt-out clauses for players and have not the same opt-out clauses for teams ? They kinda already have this in various forms. There are things like team options and well, teams can DFA or release players whenever they feel like anyways. Yes, but if you DFA a player you still have to pay him unless he is claimed by another club. The opt outs only favor the players. If they regress then they don't opt out. If they play up to or above the contract, then they can be a free agent again. It's really a great deal for the players. They should have addressed that in the CBA and tried to get rid of the opt out clauses.

Rydawg
The fact that we reportedly have the largest offer and Jansen is taking this long leads me to believe that he has reservations about coming to play for the Marlins. Maybe he is waiting for the Dodgers or Nationals to ante up?
Entendu
I would have reservations too if my potential team were willing to pay me a retarded amount of money. Who knows what other stupidity is waiting under the hood
