Doubtful they pulled it. If there was an offer they were comfortable enough losing the pick. There's no backing out now. This is all on Jansen just making his decision.

The Nationals have deferrals on a lot of their big contracts. That is just smoke and mirrors right now. I don't see them being a real candidate in this.

This is what I'm thinking too. Marlins are more willing to spend more to up the Dodgers offer who seem more restrained than us.

It's coming down to whether he wants to pitch here or not. Chapman just wanted to pitch for the Yankees. Can't fault the Marlins for making a strong offer, and I wouldn't fault them with Jansen either.

At this point, I don't want him to sign.  Ziegler, Koji, and AJ make up a potent pen and cost less than Kenley or Chapman would cost.  I appreciate that they had a plan and it may not work out.  I think at this point you just sign guys that you hope can maximize their time here and look to trade at the deadline.  This team isn't a Closer away from contention so the only thing to do is look at who is untouchable and build up a base of guys that you can maximize a return to build up the farm system later on down the road.
