Realistically we do not have the "young" pieces they would command in return. But any archer trade would have to include atleast Castillo in return and thats if they would accept an Ozuna and Ramos. If it happens I believe it CAN make us better in the long run, but right now as we sit we could be a .500 team at best.
December 17, 20169 yr Can't go into season with the bullpen being the strength of the team if we trade Ramos. Unless he is part of something where we acquire an ace he shouldn't be traded. Unfortunately without moving yelich or Stanton we don't have the pieces to acquire an ace.

Assuming Ramos has good first half I feel teams would be willing to give up more. this would be my opinion. there's not really much out there that would get us over the hump to be a decent playoff bet going into the season via trade or otherwise. a solid closer can usually net an overpayment come trade deadline time and as much as Stanton would be sad - he has several hundred million coming to him to get the best psychiatric team on retainer that a person can afford should he need someone to cry to. As awesome as it would have been to have both Chapman and Jensen on this team it makes infinitely more fiscal sense to save that money and put it towards a non-reliever position next season as our bullpen wasn't even our weakest link. These signings are terrific in that it doesn't cripple the team financially and it's a low-risk, very high reward scenario. I'm happy to see we finally have a guy who's a true groundball machine and can come in for that doubleplay - something we seemingly haven't had since The Hopper.
