June 8, 20179 yr I really don't think any trades should be done while this team is in a "sales" agreement which appears it is. The new owner should have his/her/their choice on who they keep or not and who they get in a trade. I really like Yelich and hope it doesn't happen.

June 9, 20179 yr Nothing wrong with checking on a trade but there's no way that Yelich has to or must go. Not one way that you'll convince me of that. There isn't one Marlins player less of a "has to go" than Yelich.

Yes, this franchise needs to add more talent, but trading Yelich is not the guy to trade to do it. He has the best contract on the team (and one of the best in baseball). If we are selling, then you can trade Ozuna, Ramos, Phelps, Ziegler (basically any reliever), Straily (or any starter), Gordon, and Prado (I'm just assuming you can't deal Stanton or Chen to dump salary) to replenish the minor league system. Anyway, like many people have said, nothing should be done to re-shape the organization until after a sale. This current FO should not be trading major pieces until there is clarity on who will be in charge of the team going forward.

You aren't getting a better player who is locked up for less than $15 million a season for 5 more seasons after this one. To me, a player of his caliber on such a friendly contract is far too valuable. I agree that the Marlins need to build up the farm system, but they have plenty of other trade chips to use to accomplish that.
