August 11, 20187 yr We have many good arms, but have enough good bats for the future ? I thought the general consensus is that they acquired more bats than arms and they need some arms.
August 11, 20187 yr I thought the general consensus is that they acquired more bats than arms and they need some arms. are u saying more bats no arms, but more arms no bats?
August 11, 20187 yr I thought this was going to be a thread about a bat problem inside the stadium. Would've been sick.
August 12, 20187 yr We have many good arms, but have enough good bats for the future ? We have none of the above.
August 12, 20187 yr We have many good arms, but have enough good bats for the future ? Who are these good arms you speak of?
August 12, 20187 yr We have none of the above. You're so pessimistic this year, Erick, why you do this?
August 12, 20187 yr Author You're so pessimistic this year, Erick, why you do this? Just because he's @Erick.
August 12, 20187 yr You're so pessimistic this year, Erick, why you do this? Just being honest, we currently have none of the above. Our pitching is no better than our hitting. As a matter of fact, I probably prefer our position players to our pitchers long-term. All in all, it really hasn’t been a great start to the Jeter era.
August 12, 20187 yr Author I meant even though we acquire many hitters in the trades but it seems the development of hitting prospects was not as good as the pitching prospects.

August 12, 20187 yr All in all, it really hasn’t been a great start to the Jeter era. He hasn’t even been the owner for a year yet and it was always going to be a long term project. Expecting immediate results or even signs of results is ignorant of the plan. Look back at his first 5 years in 2023 and then make a fair assessment.
August 12, 20187 yr We have none of the above. I don’t agree. I think the Marlins have a ton of future real solid #3’s and a ton of bullpen options. The game within the game, though, is the Marlins will unequivocally have to add a legit ace via trade in 2020. If they don’t do that, the franchise is fucked eternally. Marlins fans wont have to wait 5 years to know if this plan if fucked or fubar. We’ll know for sure by 2020.
August 12, 20187 yr if 4 of Schales, Diaz, Harrison, Twine, Miller, Brinson, can become consistent major league bats. Then we'll be fine bats wise. And pitching wise, we have a lot of guys who still have a huge variable margin of how good they are going to be. No clear can't miss guys, but a lot of guys with good stuff and very interesting potential. Yamamoto for example, killing double A, and has a plus pitch or two. Neidart has yet to falter this year. I'm not saying either of these guys, or any of a number of other guys are going to be aces, but a 22 year old pitching well at double A, has a lot of potential.
August 12, 20187 yr We've traded Stanton, Yelich, Ozuna, Gordon, Bour, Phelps, and Ramos and not one of the guys we've gotten back are as exciting as Jose, Stanton, Yelich, and Morrison were in the minors. Negativity police don't want to hear this. @Erick tells the truth. It's the only thing he knows how to do.
August 12, 20187 yr The so-called negativity police (still don't understand how this started as I don't see anyone telling you to not post) don't guarantee winning results. The so-called positivity police (was started to parody the negativity one) on the other hand pretty much guarantee failure. So those who aren't pessimistic at all times are called overly optimistic when it is simply not the case. I said there should be a wait and see approach as have others. I don't guarantee this will work, it might very well fail. It is just too early to say it failed. Jeter inherited a mess of an organization and needed to start from scratch. I want to see what Jeter does in the upcoming off-season and also the next off-season after that. It is a few users here who pretty much say everything will fail and give things no chance of success.

Negativity police don't want to hear this. @Erick tells the truth. It's the only thing he knows how to do. The only player from the list of guys we traded that should've commanded a "Jose/Stanton/Yelich" type of player (lmao for including Morrison in that list, might as well include Hermida) is Yelich. Brinson's preseason rankings are in line with where Yelich was the year he was promoted.

Brinson's preseason rankings are in line with where Yelich was the year he was promoted. Morrison was a great prospect that we were justifiably excited about and we have no one like him, thats my point. Hermida works too. If we can't get an exciting prospect after trading everyone good on our team (whether it's jeters fault or not) then why on earth would anyone think the rebuild is going well?
August 12, 20187 yr If we can't get an exciting prospect after trading everyone good on our team (whether it's jeters fault or not) then why on earth would anyone think the rebuild is going well? First of all, they didn't trade everyone good. Secondly, "exciting" isn't exactly a useful term. Plenty of "non-exciting" prospects ended up producing at the big-league level. You have to see how things pan out. Just like "can't miss" guys sometimes miss, sometimes guys produce even when some don't think they will. Morrison was a great prospect that we were justifiably excited about and we have no one like him, thats my point. Hermida works too. You actually prove my point there. Hermida was an "exciting" prospect and ended up a bust, so in the end does "exciting" actually mean anything? No. LoMo had some good moments, but it is safe to say he also didn't live up being a big-time player, whether he was "exciting" or not.
August 12, 20187 yr The whole point is, we all have to wait and see what happens. It may work or it may fail. Saying with absolute certainty that it failed is pretty ridiculous in my opinion. If anyone said it'll definitely work, I'd say that is just as ridiculous.
August 12, 20187 yr It is a few users here who pretty much say everything will fail and give things no chance of success. This is the thing that gets me... the supposed certainty of failure and the jumping to conclusions before letting things play out. Those of us who are called out for being so positive about everything (and yes I know I'm the chief of that department to most of you) I think all we're saying is to wait and see, we're not guaranteeing anything. Show me where we've guaranteed anything will work here, as opposed to those of you who guarantee failure all the time around here. And really, why follow the team if they bring you so much misery and you're so certain nothing will ever work here?
