February 7, 20197 yr What now? How much money do we have? Could we conceivably sign Yolbert Sanchez? Will we sign Josh harrison, Logan Forsythe? Is Brett Anderson coming to camp? Literally now that the Realmuto trade is over, and we got about what we should get. What do we do now?
February 7, 20197 yr Definitely getting a reliever. I would think an outfielder on a major league deal is possible but it would make the Granderson signing useless.
February 8, 20197 yr A reliever or 2 definitely have to be added. Serio Romo, Bud Norris, Adam Warren, and Ryan Madson make sense. Perhaps even taking a flier on AJ Ramos on a minor league deal. Also, with Brinson, Dean, Cooper, Sierra, and Granderson, and Rosell Herrera the only OFs in camp with MLB experience (not counting Anderson), I would think signing another OF to at least a minor league deal would be wise. There are still a bunch of useful OF out there and the Marlins should have some money to spend. Adam Jones, CarGo, Span, Parra, and Melky Cabrera all make sense.
February 8, 20197 yr The bullpen is gonna be the next thing that they start working on. Also, I think that signing CarGo to an incentive laden deal would make a lot of sense.
February 8, 20197 yr Also, I think that signing CarGo to an incentive laden deal would make a lot of sense. Agreed - follow the trend of all of baseball this off-season, give him a minor league deal with an invite to spring training. If he does well, great, off-load him to a contender who needs an outfield/bench bat. It's going to be exactly the same with Granderson, really.
February 8, 20197 yr I think that signing CarGo to an incentive laden deal would make a lot of sense. 100 percent.
February 8, 20197 yr I wanted CarGo since the offseason started but Granderson fills the same exact role. Do you guys think they would actually get both?
February 8, 20197 yr I wanted CarGo since the offseason started but Granderson fills the same exact role. Do you guys think they would actually get both? I have faith that CarGo could net us a better trade than Granderson
February 8, 20197 yr I have faith that CarGo could net us a better trade than Granderson Yes but... roster construction. Why both? Unless they straight up compete against each other and only one makes the team.
February 8, 20197 yr Yes but... roster construction. Why both? Unless they straight up compete against each other and only one makes the team. What's our starting OF currently?
February 8, 20197 yr CarGo IMO is much better than Granderson especially now. I think he would be more deserving of a major league contract. Just give him a smaller base salary with incentives that he can easily reach. That would be fair for both sides IMO.
February 8, 20197 yr Camp starts on Monday, I'm not sure why people think they are going to suddenly add players now. I was surprised at the Granderson deal but that was a minor league deal with an invite to ST so they don't have to pay him unless he makes the team (which seems pretty likely since I think the FO has said that the only guarantee is that Lewis Brinson will be a starter).
February 8, 20197 yr What's our starting OF currently? Aren't they thinking about moving Garrett Cooper to left field for whatever reason? So, I think right now, it's ... Cooper, Brinson, Anderson if Prado is healthy? [Although I'd so much prefer just having Prado be a bench bat / de facto bench coach] Personally I hope O'Brien gets the most looks at first base.
February 8, 20197 yr What's our starting OF currently? If Prado is healthy it's pretty much Brinson Anderson Granderson, not gonna really bump Brinson or Anderson for CarGo and leave Granderson out to dry. I mean yes they could do it but it doesn't seem to fit the plan right now. If Prado goes down then it fits better but that isn't something they can really assume.
February 9, 20197 yr Holy cow didnt realize that. It's all sons. Obviously. They are the sons of their parents. How is this news to you?

The free agent market is still at a standstill because of Harper / Machado. Plenty of players have still not been signed. Honestly, this is the dumbest shit I have ever seen and it is pathetic. This is worse than last year with the signings. Once those idiots finally sign then everything will start picking up. I expect them to make a couple more signings before March.
February 9, 20197 yr Obviously. They are the sons of their parents. How is this news to you? And you're the son of Jack. So what?
February 9, 20197 yr Man I hope this actually drives the FA market down in the future (although Trout will basically get the GDP of a few nations in the process). Let the players union cry all they want. Getting really tired of the whole "super teams" trend in recent years (especially in the NBA..ugh).
February 9, 20197 yr So what do we have: Starters: C- Alfaro, 1B- OBrien/Walker, 2B- Castro, SS- Rojas/Riddle, 3B- Prado, LF-Granderson, CF- Brinson, RF- Anderson Bench: C- Holladay, 1B- OBrien/Walker, SS- Rojas/Riddle, OF- Sierra, ??? SP: Smith, Lopez, Richards, Straily, Urena RP: Guerrero, Conley, Eveld, Steckenrider, Garcia, Alcantara, Chen Idk who you'd fit in that last bench spot, and I have no idea what to do with our seven SPs but I hope they'd shove Chen in the bullpen and let the young guys start. Am I missing someone?
