February 12, 20196 yr I wonder what the beef is though, what did Samson do to him? Could be just general anger (salutes) at him and that regime for not running things well, IDK.
February 12, 20196 yr Players/Agents are not understanding market value. Front offices aren’t emotional anymore and much more statistic driven
February 12, 20196 yr Players/Agents are not understanding market value. Front offices aren’t emotional anymore and much more statistic driven Front offices are also manipulating things left and right whenever/wherever they can. Just as much as the Players/ Agents are probably not getting what they want, the Owners arent exactly doing things the right way with these moronic service time moves, which I get but are not in the spirit of the rules.

While I agree that the service time rules are skewed to favor the owners/FO, the GM’s wouldn’t be doing their job if they don’t find a way to use this to their advantage. Also doesn’t mean that they have to do you a favor by paying you a couple extra mill in FA

Also doesn’t mean that they have to do you a favor by paying you a couple extra mill in FA Which just adds to the anger the players have in general. They feel like they are getting bent over left and right by the owners. When the players were getting 10 year deals they overlooked it obviously, now that they arent, they are quite angered. I bet the owners rake in a good 60-65% of overall revenue, and because of the owners acting like poor fuckers, this strike will probably drastically change that to something similar to other sports leagues.
February 12, 20196 yr I feel like the league should be 154 games like the old days, but have 8 playoff teams per league. Baseball needs to expand the postseason to combat 10 teams tanking. Make baseball more competitive. More teams have a chance.
February 12, 20196 yr 8 playoff teams per league Oh lord no, then it becomes the NBA/NHL where teams with losing records get in. Maximum I would accept is 12. On top of that, now you're probably talking like 3-game series for the first two rounds. 10 is fine, 12 would be acceptable if they expand to 32 teams and go 4 4-team divisions.
February 12, 20196 yr Man that strike in 2021 is going to be fun. Watch 2021 be to the Marlins what 1981 was to the Expos
February 12, 20196 yr Watch 2021 be to the Marlins what 1981 was to the Expos So we make the playoffs? WOOHOO!
February 12, 20196 yr So we make the playoffs? WOOHOO! not exactly.... Expos had their best season in franchise history only to have the remainder of the season cancelled due to a strike
February 12, 20196 yr not exactly.... Expos had their best season in franchise history only to have the remainder of the season cancelled due to a strike That's 1994, chief.
February 12, 20196 yr Watch 2021 be to the Marlins what 1981 was to the Expos i think you meant 1994 unless the Expos got screwed in 81 too

There should be no sympathy toward guys that have the opportunity to sign a multi-year contract to play major league baseball, nor should any of those guys feel like they're getting bent over. 10yr deals aren't the norm because teams are tired of rebuilding their franchise at the end of those deals. Franchises want consistency. If business wasn't profitable, businessmen wouldn't do it. Owners became owners for a reason, and anybody else has the opportunity to try to do the same. Boras is horrible for the sport. He would run every small market team out of the game for his own self-interest.

NBA playoffs are a joke, and the 8 seeds essentially have no chance because they aren't good teams. Baseball's playoffs are just fine the way they are (I wouldn't mind a 3-game series for the Wild Card, but I also understand that it kills any momentum for the division winners)
