This is accurate. We missed on the SP and now need to hope Eury and eventually Ed come back strong.

Kim shrewdly bought for this year and next year, and in the case of Burger and Weathers, through 2027 or 2028.

Honestly, she did well, overall. Whether it works out this year may not matter as much.

See what happens in the offseason, too. I've got a lot more faith in her now than I did before.

I get that. But I was mainly addressing your original point that the offense did not improve significantly since the trades for Burger and Bell.

I mean as others have mentioned, in the 4 games since the trade deadline the Marlins have scored 8+ runs twice. Of course that is a very small sample size and anyways we will have to wait for a few weeks to really know for sure if the offense has improved significantly.

Although I will say that besides the 2 new players, the Marlins still have 7 old players in the lineup that they already had and those 7 players are still the same. So I mean, it’s not really fair to judge the Marlins overall results on just the 2 new guys. Because it’s still a team game. But again I will definitely say the Marlins offense has improved overall with the trades. Does it bring them to the same level as the Braves? No, but I mean they would have to change more than half the lineup to make that happen. 😂

 

Now if the Marlins replaced all 9 guys in the lineup and then still played the same that would be a @Valid point. 

FWIW, we're at a -12 run diff since the new players arrived, after today's game.  Obviously not all on the offense, as the pitching has let us down too, but figured I'd provide an update

Avi is that guy at work who shows up doesn’t do anything productive but management loves him so he can just be useless everyday and no one cares. And he still somehow makes more money than you.

while we all know this exact person in the workplace - i'm pretty sure the only person that liked him was Jeter. He's only on this team because he would cost Bruce too much to outright release (still stupid because he only hurts the team and thus depresses revenue even more).  If Bruce was honest about money being no object etc. as he claimed to be at the deadline then Avi would be long gone.  Alas...tis not so and we'll see Avi with the Marlins at least through the end of 2024 season. I think he might finally be willing to cut his losses for the last season of his contract in '25 and dump him at some point during that season. 

Regardless, Avi will go down as a top 3 worst signing in Marlins history.

The Marlins are struggling because they are playing their worst baseball of the year against the hardest of their schedule.  Its no coincidence that they are losing more after the all star break when playing better teams.  Even so, I feel like the team from the first half wouldn't be getting swept and blown out as much as they are now.

It also doesn't help that they had to demote their best pitcher (a friggin 20 year old) for a month, the bullpen has turned into garbage, and the manager has completely changed his management into letting guys struggle both offensively and pitching to the detriment of the team instead of sitting them or pulling them out.

Fire Sherman, Ng, Skip, all coaches, all players and .....

To hell with this dogshit group of quitters. 

Confirmed, first half was just a fluke, this team just not good enough to make it to the playoffs.
