I said him getting hit by Fiers was a freak injury. C'mon, man, don't twist what I said.

I stated every injury I could remember him having from 2011 through 2015 and only listed one as "freak." Never said he wasn't injury prone.

I would actually say 2015 was also freak considering he got hit in the hand by a pitch.

I don't believe he did, actually. Think he broke it on a swing.

I know this next statement will probably be unpopular but sometimes I wonder about having jazz in the 9 hole in case he gets on and that sets up Arraez to drive him in since Jazz is fairly speedy.

Even Jazz said he isn’t a cleanup hitter while he batted 4th for a spell. After his statement, management had him leading off again but that didn’t/hasn’t worked consistently not even close.  I don’t think it’s a bad idea if Jazz batted 9th, you can still be a tone setter having protection with Arraez and plate in runs as well. The 9th spot is stigmatized as an auto out because we experienced that in a no DH league for years.   I believe Jazz was batting 8-9th for a couple games this yr & he played well enough that they had him leading off again.   As much as they wanna market Jazz as a Marlin he’s not a leadoff hitter.

Here it is

I'm still pretty sure you said Stanton wasn't injury prone because they were freak injuries  but I'm too lazy and don't care enough to go digging through posts from months ago.

Also sticking to Jazz being injury prone until he proves otherwise, which he hasn't, yet.

You sure do seem attached to this idea that the Marlins are hellbent on "marketing" Jazz = leadoff.

Well if the FO calls the shots on who plays & where, then I’m more inclined to think it’s a marketing move if they switch Arraez with Jazz leading off.   I understand the value Jazz can bring, He or they added a JR to his name as it appeals with Acuna Jr. & Vlad Guerrero Jr.   That may sound totally preposterous but baseball in general has evolved into glorify superstars with personalities for a wider audience., it is what it is.  I think Jazz plays hard every night but maybe some of this pressure gets in his way.  Jazz actually is one of the few that can be labeled a 5 tool player his skill set is off the charts.

What does lineup placement have to do with marketing?

It shouldn’t.

It’s ok, don’t let it stress you out.

The MLB show 23 has Jazz as the cover athlete.  MLB & the Marlins doesn’t want him batting in the bottom of the order lol.  If some of you can’t see how marketing might play a factor in what I’m saying, it’s ok, I’ll be the odd man out. 😃

I saw what you were alluding to..

Don’t forget Jazz was an All Star and probably the most well known Marlins player, I would argue even more well known on the national stage than Sandy, even though Sandy was the Cy Young winner. Yeah, Marlins and MLB especially have seemed to really try to market Jazz as part of the next Generation of young, exciting and “cool” players along with guys like Acuña, Julio Rodriguez and some others.

So probably not a great look on the national stage if Marlins “demote” him to bat 9th. Which people who actually watch Marlins games would understand and see why it’s not a terrible idea, but on the national media stage you know that you would see stories on ESPN and other publications along the lines of “Marlins batting young superstar Jazz Chisholm 9th.” Along with a whole article trash talking the Marlins for doing that while they have Segura hitting 6th, or something along those lines. 😂

Sure, Sandy doesn’t have a marketing personality for social media like Jazz does.  Jazz’s real name is Jasrado lol.  Then they/he added Jr because it’s like adding Sir in the baseball world for being a star, though it seems.  I remember when Giancarlo Stanton changed his former name (Mike Stanton) as it encouraged a more Latino in Miami vibe about the same time Loria moved the team and wanted a ballpark that had those same vibes IMO.  Being a fan since the Marlins expansion, Marlins were just a baseball ball team of players not culture.  Anyway, I’m probably putting myself in the lions den on this so I’ll just stop.

Im not saying I’m right, there just opinions.

Yes, we get it.  You hate Jazz. 🤪

I wouldn’t say I hate it. I’m more of classic rock guy myself, but some moments the sounds of a nice smooth jazz piece of music while I’m cooking a special pasta dish is a nice touch.

Just kidding I eat all my meals at McDonalds/Taco Bell unfortunately.

Ng is a genius, we have too many real CF now (JD and Jazz).

JD has made some big plays but he’s not getting much credit around here.    K-Jazz “just above league ave” makes this team so much better, setting the bar at lead off with those pretty strike outs and crybaby complaints with the umps.  Don’t mind the winning record, it’s not because Jazz is expendable or  anything like that.  Maybe if he adds more charisma to his name it will add more validity with his stats lol.
