June 8, 20233 yr With Jazz, Record: 19-21: 47% W/L rate, scoring 3.4 RPG. Without Jazz, Record: 16-7 = 69% W/L rate, scoring 5.0 RPG The strikeouts are way down while the walks are up during his absence. Yes, we faced teams with losing records in this stretch, but in the Don yrs we couldn’t even do that right, beat teams with losing records. Arraez has become the example as other players have vastly improved their approach at the plate striking out less with higher contact rates. We also have a healthy core of competition for accountability along with a competent coach. Watching the KC series, the Royals roster is constructed with so many 5 tool lefty hitters it reminds me of what we had here the last year and their record shows it. I personally don’t miss Jazz. Does he really improve the team?
June 8, 20233 yr I miss Jazz and I think they are better with him. Even if the stats don’t show that for this season at this time.

Fair enough, I’m probably of the minority on this one. Im sure most here know his stats so that doesn’t really need to be pointed out. Never thought I would say Sanchez is the superstar over Jazz but I’m calling it now. I’m pretty much off of the Jazz & Cooper bandwagon of wishful thinking.
June 8, 20233 yr We'll certainly have to see what happens when he gets back. Definitely do not lead him off until he figures out his approach at the plate again. No idea where his strike zone knowledge and contact ability went. Hit him 6th for a bit, I think, and work his way back up.
June 8, 20233 yr Jazz is a tad overrated in my opinion. Still looking towards getting him back but he is not one of the best players in the game.

June 8, 20233 yr i'd rather have Jazz in the lineup over Avi, Davis, or Cooper. I would like to see him batting much further down though as someone said - 6th does sound about right from how his swings were going before he got injured. He'll lend some additional power down there in the lineup to which would be nice. Ideally, our OF should be DLC, Jazz, and Sanchez, Soler should DH. Avi is a complete and total dead roster spot now. 100% there is literally no room on this team for him and will only hurt the team by keeping him anywhere on the roster. I'd rather have some defensive+++ guy called him and given a roster spot as he'll at least have some value in substitutions. They need to just release Avi and wash their hands of him.
June 8, 20233 yr Is this a real thread? He wasn't the reason the Marlins were losing, or maybe better said, our recent hot streak isn't because of him not playing. It's not like we're better because he's out.

June 8, 20233 yr Also, when Jazz returns he won't be replacing anyone who is doing well now. It's not like we're choosing between Jazz and Sanchez or Jazz and Arraez. When Jazz returns he will be an addition to the hot hitters, not a replacement. Again, this thread is odd.
June 8, 20233 yr I'd rather have Jazz over Hampson and Davis. If Jazz is suddenly our 6th or 7th best hitter that's kind of a "good problem" in the same way that Sandy being our "worst" pitcher is an awkwardly good problem as well.
June 8, 20233 yr The streak has nothing to do with Jazz's absence and everything to do with guys like Sanchez and DLC getting hot, the starting pitching being stronger overall and Arraez being an unstoppable force. Add Jazz into the mix and the Marlins are even better.

Are you saying when Avi returns he also won't replace anyone doing well? And since Jazz is far better than Avi is....if Avi will replace someone doing well, why wouldn't Jazz be replacing someone doing well?
June 8, 20233 yr Wendle is starting to hit a bit, too. Segura and Stallings/Fortes are the biggest black holes when the team is healthy. Much better outlook than when the season started. Sanchez’s peripherals look excellent, so it might be for real. Do you think Jazz is not one of the top 13 position players on this roster? Especially since he can play three positions, it’s certainly overkill to say we’re better without him. Edited June 8, 20233 yr by mystikol87

If he can even just be a .700 OPS bat, our need for a catcher dips considerably. Edited June 8, 20233 yr by Valid

Its by position, Jazz is our CF, I'd rather have him there over Davis or Hampson long term. Definitely not the same for Avi who would be competing with Sanchez and De La Cruz. Avi should be a bench player when he returns. I'm not sure how this is a question at this point and yes I know Jazz has struggled this season.
June 8, 20233 yr Jazz had 14 HR's and an .860 OPS in 216 AB's before he got hurt last year. I don't think that's overrated. He also had a decent if unspectacular season in 21' where he hit 18 homeruns. Also, if I'm not mistaken, he has 7 homeruns this season which is still 3rd on the team behind Soler and DLC and ahead of Sanchez. He's only one behind HR behind DLC with 70 less AB's. He naturally got off to a slow start in CF but he was playing really well when he got hurt. His metrics also show that he has a chance to be elite out there. I can't believe that I'm having to defend Jazz on here. I'm mean seriously, would you guys rather have Davis or Hampson out there? I know everyone loves Davis now, but I promise you, he will more than likely be at the top of the DFA wish list for many people on here very soon. Jazz is the real deal. Rant over!! LOL
