Maybe Mel isn't analytical enough for Bendix's liking? 1 hour ago, pollythewog said: Exactly it ie the nerd shit and Mel may have wanted out too They're open to bringing some back based on who becomes next manager. Just shut up, polly.

The article I read only specifically mentioned "bench coach Luis Urueta and first base/outfield coach Jon Jay have been told there’s interest in a reunion, pending the managerial search."

October 2, 20241 yr I find it hard to believe Mel wanted out with 1 year left on contract, and Sandy coming back next year. He already put up with 100 losses. If Bendix decided to fire Mel, it is going to go down as a horrible decision. What an idiot. Edited October 2, 20241 yr by QbanCastillo

October 2, 20241 yr Also among the cuts were head athletic trainer Lee Meyer and strength & conditioning coach Brendan Verner, per Mish and Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald. None of the coaches being dismissed were under contract for the 2025 season, per the report. Still, an overhaul of this magnitude is borderline unprecedented in recent big league history. I like how because it's the Marlins they have to call it "borderline unprecedented in recent big league history" to clean house of a coaching staff put together mostly by the previous regime.

October 3, 20241 yr Didn't they pretty much clean house of Donnie's staff when Skip came in too? There's probably very few teams that don't/didn't clean house on the coaching staff when a new manager takes over a losing team. "Marlins lose 100 games, the world is stunned at sweeping changes" How dare they not keep everything intact!
October 3, 20241 yr I don’t see why there is even any issue with this. I guess Twitter people are bored af and are just looking for anything to complain about. But it’s usually always common when a manager leaves and goes to a new team that they bring most of their own core group of coaches with them wherever they go. @Das Texan will understand this reference. Tony LaRussa had Dave Duncan as his pitching coach for the White Sox then moved to the Oakland A’s and then the St Louis Cardinals and also long time first base coach Dave McKay also moved from the Oakland A’s when LaRussa went to the Cardinals in the mid 90s. So obviously when a new manager comes in he will bring his new guys with him and the old regime moves along. How many coaches are still here from the Mattingly years? I know the Mel remained but I mean first base and third base coaches and bench coach? Exactly. Complete non issue and waste of time by lower IQ Twitter users. 😂
October 3, 20241 yr This is what I said March this year I used to be very pro analytics but Bendix is so obnoxious when he talks I’ve done a 180
October 3, 20241 yr Joe frisaro is even more of a loser this year with his illogical vendetta against Bendix. Now that he doesn't work for MLB.com Joe thinks he's cool to just spit rage everywhere even though he should know better... Train wreck, empty promises, blah blah. As if he's never seen a front office get reshaped by a new leader. Moron.

Frisaro has always been a moron.......He's going overboard with criticism after all the years of towing the team lines and bending over backward to defend team moves, so he swung the pendulum the opposite way. I think his plan all along was to clean house and replace with his vision for staff, it's just been done slowly vs. immediately. There are areas we haven't done well in for years, why keep people there just because? News flash Joe - this team has been a train wreck for 20 years - much of which you covered, and you're just now realizing that? I'm skeptical, but hopeful about Bendix's moves, but automatic train wreck because we're cleaning house of a team that's been bad for the majority of the last 20 years, with only a couple random seasons of success sprinkled in? Must be a really slow sports week because I am seeing many national sports news outlets running this story. Check this out from 2017: later in the same article: Not to mention all the other changes Jeter made to the organization as a whole including gutting out almost all the Loria/Samson touches. The home run sculpture, the green stadium color scheme, many other things.
