August 3Aug 3 Just now, FishFan95 said:The Marlins had too many lefties that suck vs lefty pitchers. But they are good against RHP, so they had good numbers overall. The worst steatches that the team has had this year have been in the wake of a string of opposing lefty pitchers. You can put all your eggs into lefty bats. But it leaves you vulnerable. Between Hicks, Stowers, Conine, and Caissie, Hicks is the least painful one to let go of.I have no issue trading Hicks IF they do more. But you can't say the 2026 team got better today so far considering Hicks leads them in RBI and by a wide margin. And a team in contention should be trying to get better.

August 3Aug 3 I will say one last thing on the Hicks trade. As long as Conine, Stowers, and Caissie stay healthy, we will be fine. None have them have any history of injuries, right?......
August 3Aug 3 Author Since it cut it off:There are a couple of core philosophies with this Marlins regime that are reflected in this Hicks trade:1) Be open to trading established players who don't project to play a premium position here (DH) who they believe might have reached their ceiling2) Acquire not just quality, but quantity, in return. August 3Aug 3 With team control through 2030, I really don’t see the reason for the deal.yes, Agustin now has a spot open. But Agustin has shown very little offensively even at Jacksonville. Return is whatever. I am sick of trading with Tampa. Does Bendix know other prospects exist?

That green monster is gonna do wonders for Adley and he’s a switch hitter so no need to platoon him. Pumped!

August 3Aug 3 Fine, would've liked to have Brax get a better sendoff, but interested to see how Jonathon Long does when he gets a shot.
August 3Aug 3 Author Why has Garrett not received an opportunity with the big league club beyond two starts in May? Some insight:1). Garrett struggled badly in those starts, allowing seven runs and walking eight in 4 1/3 innings. The Marlins have been fearful that his trade value would diminish if he’s promoted again and is bombed again.2). The Marlins haven’t been satisfied with his control at Triple A. He has yielded only 47 hits (but 29 walks) in 77 innings. He has a 2.90 ERA in 15 starts but has been pounded in his past two appearances.3). The Marlins, going back to the spring, wanted Garrett to find ways to increase his velocity and modify his arsenal. According to a source, Garrett was reluctant to make wholesale changes, believing major tweaks would do more harm than good. And that’s how we’ve arrived at this spot, with a former solid No. 4 starter on the verge of being dealt for (potentially) a prospect.Read more at: https://www.miamiherald.com/sports/mlb/miami-marlins/article316714953.html#storylink=cpy

August 3Aug 3 Seems like a good return for Brax who was not getting another shot with the fish anyway
August 3Aug 3 I know the years got cut off, but wanted to show how much of a strikeout fiend Beck is.
