July 30Jul 30 The Marlins could sneak into the playoffs, but definitely not a contender to win. That being said, I think most people are rightfully jaded with trading guys for future pieces because it just hasn't worked as much as it needs to. The Marlins history at making trades is just grim. Even the guys who were can't misses seem to not pan out here....

July 30Jul 30 Braxton got shellacked again in AAA. Can't see him having much value at all. The only team stupid enough to give something worthwhile up is the Angels. Otherwise it could be Sherman's favorite player Cash Considerations.
July 30Jul 30 I was thinking about the Luzardo trade today and had completely forgotten we had traded him to the Cubs but he failed their physical. They never confirmed who we were getting back but speculation was it was Caissie and Triantos. A few days later he was shipped to the Phillies.Weird butterfly effect on that if he goes to the Cubs.1) Possibly we don't panic and sell low to the Phillies.2) The Cubs were right and Luzardo can't stay healthy thus making any trade not as disappointing as what we did.3) Cabrera doesn't go to he Cubs and is either kept or shipped elsewhere possibly for a viable 1b or 3b.4) Triantos comes over and plays a solid third.5) The Weathers trade doesn't happen, or goes to a different team, or the package is different.

July 31Jul 31 Of course this team still not very good but at least they're capable to compete for the playoffs now, you should keep the core and make them perform better year by year. Edited July 31Jul 31 by TaiwanMarlins

August 2Aug 2 Seeing Skubal traded to LA had me rooting for the owners who want an hard cap and a 2 year lockout.

August 2Aug 2 Marsee has been dropped from today's lineup. Not sure if Trade Deadline related, but is interesting given the timing.

And everyone can f*ck right off if they're going to hype up "doing it the right way" for other "lesser fortunate" teams because LA spends ludicrous amounts of money in that area as well (probably more than every other team I'll bet).

The problem is they don't end up keeping any of the players they acquired once they become good.
August 2Aug 2 If we trade Stowers, when we're 1.5 games out of the playoffs then there is no hope for this front office.
August 3Aug 3 It would take a king's ransom to trade Stowers but if the Astros were to give up their 1,2,3 prospects in K. Alvarez, Neyens, and Fermin I am doing that all day long.1) Stowers will be 29 next year.2) We have an absolute boatload of outfielders that can replace him adequately.Bendix would get excoriated for this and would need balls of steel to pull the trigger but that would be a franchise altering trade.
