3 guys having breakout years.

Yeah.

Taylor was the 19th overall pick in 2023, was 6th/7th ranked prospect for Rays and 65th-ish in MLB heading into 2025, then had a terrible year and slid out. This year he’s been crushing it though. 17hrs, 20sb, .384obp and almost .900 ops.

Return is the Rays 16,26,27 (on MLB.com)

Taylor is Rays #6 on FanGraphs and a Rays 1st round pick. I like the trade.

If they weren't contending for a playoff spot this year sure. But if this is the only trade made today, I'll be pissed.

If they add some talent for this year, then this trade becomes much more acceptable to me.

You don't improve your chances of contending by trading away your RBI leader.

I'll wait to judge until the deadline passes.

But if no other trades are made and we're just subtracting and waving the white flag this year, it's pathetic.

when will they understand you have to trade from your surplus of MLB talent to get someone ELSE’S surplus of MLB talent, not fuckin minor leaguers.

That's what I was trying to say, I kinda stumbled with my words a bit.

Oh I know.....I was agreeing with you.

It's definitely annoying, but I'll give them a leash to do more to help this year. I have a feeling all we'll see is the usual "next year" moves....

Hey cheer up guys, in 2029 or 2030 they can possibly trade Taylor for another "promising return".

To make it comparable, they would be trading for the rule 5 guy we get in 2027 or 2028 instead of Taylor.

The Marlins had too many lefties that suck vs lefty pitchers. But they are good against RHP, so they had good numbers overall. The worst steatches that the team has had this year have been in the wake of a string of opposing lefty pitchers. You can put all your eggs into lefty bats. But it leaves you vulnerable. Between Hicks, Stowers, Conine, and Caissie, Hicks is the least painful one to let go of.
