Vegas mayor has sights set on Marlins
Let Samson go to Vegas, it will just help oust him from the organization.

Expectations
Very few people had any expectations for Dontrelle when we got him in a trade. Brad Penny bloomed late but was pretty unknown when we got him from Arizona. Josh and AJ though were always golden boys in the organization.

Greg Cote: Thanks for the memories
He stole some of those ideas from one of the threads here Great article none the less

Another article on the fire sale
About time somebody stands up for the fans! I've always believe there is NO way Loria lost money in 2003. But I guess its easy to spend money when you're taking plane trips to Vegas to scout out locations, or flying back and forth to Puerto Rico trying to get Delgado to sign, only to whore him out a year later. Samson should stop getting all these steak and lobster dinners with the corporate Amex if he is so interested in cutting costs so they don't have to dismantle the team and freeze salaries for current employees.

The Puerto Rico Marlins
http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=Av6Q...ov=ap&type=lgns Businessman wants to bring Marlins to Puerto Rico By PEDRO ZAYAS, Associated Press Writer SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) -- The businessman who brought Montreal Expos games to Puerto Rico now wants to lure the Florida Marlins. Antonio Munoz would like the Marlins to move to Puerto Rico permanently or at least consider playing some of their games there, as the Expos did from 2003-04. He said he will soon discuss his idea with the team to see if it is interested. "We would like to see the Marlins play in Puerto Rico," Munoz said from the Dominican Republic in a telephone interview with The Associated Press. Frustrated they have been unable to put together financing for a new ballpark in South Florida, the Marlins said Tuesday they have received permission from the commissioner's office to explore moving the franchise for the 2008 season. Munoz paid millions in 2003 and 2004 to get the Montreal Expos to play more than 40 games at Hiram Bithorn Stadium in San Juan. The franchise moved to Washington and was renamed the Nationals before last season. Munoz said Puerto Rico might consider building a new stadium for the Marlins. "Puerto Rico is on notice to consider the construction of a new park and that is something that we could negotiate," he said. Florida president David Samson said several cities have already shown an interest in becoming the club's new home. Looking to slash payroll, the Marlins struck two tentative deals this week to trade three star players: first baseman Carlos Delgado, pitcher Josh Beckett and third baseman Mike Lowell. I'm sorry, but I don't want to see the Marlins stay only to play 1/2 of their games in Puerto Rico. Just saw it was already posted. plz delete.

Marlins Encore on FSN -- 2005 Opening Day game replay
Watching this game on tv demonstrated something very interesting. We had a "packed" house of +54k, actually the biggest regular season crowd ever, and probably one of the biggest crowds EVER to watch a game in all MLB. AND STILL THE STADIUM LOOKED EMPTY!!! For a Marlin fan used to seeing small crowds, sure it looked pack, but for a regular television viewer all you see is the rows and rows of empty orange seats that are closed for baseball. It doesn't matter if we bring 50,000 fans a game, people would STILL say we had poor turn outs because of the perception. Likewise, Fenway and small old stadiums will always looked packed.

This Thanksgiving I give thanks
And I want to thank the Turkey that I ate, that was so big, it might actually have been taller than Dave Sampson Where do you buy such small turkeys? The City of Miami wouldn't help fund my Thanksgiving dinner so I had to go on my own.

Happy Thanksgiving from...... Admin!
Happy Thanksgiving Admin :kiss Same, to Admin and everyone not named AJ Burnett.

Sale on Beckett, Lowell, and Delgado jerseys
This would be the last thing on my mind

rumor
I like Rich Waltz , he did a good job imo Yeah, but we gotta cut costs you know. Packing up all that equipment and shipping it to Portland is gonna cost Loria a pretty penny so we need to save this season.

Florida's fire-sale follies
Great thread. We are all thinking these kids will be another D Train or Brad Penny. Just this evening I heard on the 790 how the Boston folks weren't too please with Hanley Ramirez's work ethic and the lack of committment he had to baseball. Sounds like a kid someguy needs to chaperone in the club house, hopefully not Miggy.

rumor
Lets trade Rich Waltz and JP for Len Kasper.

Who's to blame for the Marlins leaving?
If this team did not win any world series and had 30,000 fans everygame do you think we'd have a stadium? No. Blame had to be spread inbetween the leadership in the Marlins and the local and state governments.
-
What is going to hurt you most?
If Beckett wins a Cy Young, thats gonna hurt, bad. I hope he leaves here with good memories and if someday things change and we can get him back, he'd consider.
-
Jason Stokes??
He better be up for Spring training although I doubt he'll win the position.

If this franchise were to relocate..
I'll always support former Marlin players (except those named AJ Burnett), but once those leave the organization I hope the franchise will get the curse of Elian Gonzalez, which is what happens when against popular opinion you leave Miami for other territories.
