  1. Another example on how America is not as nice of a country as people think true however we are not the only country with racial problems
  2. Since we are talking about what the state can do or not do concerning the anti-Bush plate...for arguments sake...can a state ban the issuance of a drivers license when the photo involves a femal wearing a Burka?
  3. I actually have a Che t-shirt but it has a red line through his face with a circle around it.
  4. WIOD has one of the strongest radio signals. I can't believe Broward County Commmisioners would put politics before the public safety of their citizens.
  5. "My Sharona" by The Knack
  6. Many teams though truly represent a region. The Marlins originally were geared by MLB to represent the entire state. I can't believe I'm actually going to take part in this inane debate, but I can't let this go by without a response. The name "Florida Marlins" had nothing to do with MLB or how this team was going to be marketed or what "region" this team was going to represent. The prefix "Florida" was chosen quite simply because H. Wayne Huizenga wants nothing to do with Miami, Miami-Dade, or anything else south of NW 201 Street (County Line Road). Plain and simple. No TV contracts were based on the prefix being "Florida", no territorial rights are based on the prefix being "Florida", and nothing else is based on the team being named "Florida" except for Huizenga and his Broward-centric approach to everything! Maybe because of my age, from the get-go, the name "Florida Marlins" didn't make sense to me because it clashed. Historically speaking, this region has had baseball teams nicknamed "Marlins" for years. All the time they were the "Miami Marlins," with the last incarnation of the "Miami Marlins" being terminated in 1989 when the Florida State League "Marlins" were sold to the investment group led by Bill Murray and Jimmy Buffet left Bobby Maduro Stadium and played one year at Hialeah-Miami Lakes High School, then moved to F.I.U. as the "Miami Miracle," then to Pompano Beach, and then to Fort Myers in 1992. Examples of the old "Marlins" of the International League and Florida International League are seen below with their 1956, 1957, and 1960 logos, and the 1956 Road Jersey and 1957 Home Jersey: To me, "Florida Marlins" wasn't natural, just like saying "Florida Dolphins" would be unnatural because it is taking a historical name and "bastardizing" for modern purposes. So, needless to say, I would support a change of the prefix to "Miami" only to bring history back. As for other "regional" teams, nobody goes around saying the Southeastern United States Braves, Pacific Northwest Mariners, or Western Pennsylvania Pirates. And nobody in their right minds would ever say the "Chicagoland Cubs", "Chicagoland White Sox," "Tri-State Yankees," and "Tri-State Mets!" You beat me to it..but thanks. Your correct MLB had nothing to do with the market being named after the state. Wayne used the name from the Miami Marlins and yes it does feel unnatural for them to be called Florida Marlins. Many memebers of these boards do not understand or even experienced baseball games in Miami during the Miami Marlins . I remember the Miami Marlins games at Bobby Maduro and other baseball games at that stadium before it was called Bobby Maduro. Thanks once again for bringing it up.
  7. They should put the juvenile court/family court at the OB site. I believe that would make the politicians happy who were against the downtown ballpark site.
  8. In Miami I don't use turn signals anymore because the moment I do someone speeds up in the lane I want to switch to.
  9. This is just my opinion but I believe if the situation was different such as Broward or Palm Beach along with their major cities Ft.lauderdale or West Palm Beach leading the effort for their own ballpark it would have passed. I just see so much animosity up north towards The City of Miami it's not even funny. I doubt that. Unless the attendance figures were far better than what they are right now. But when our average attendance for this year is a little over 18K a game...while a bill is trying to get passed...why would anyone think it is due to animosity from the northern part of the state against a certain city??? What would you like them to say? "They obviously don't care about baseball down there so we will really show them. Let's force them to have a MLB team." I would expect you to say something like that but why would you doubt it? I believe I heard some politicians from Broward and Palm Beach against this bill. I wasn't even talking about attendance when I voiced my opinion on the previous post. Since you brought it up the attendance does suck. How do we make it better? I believe everyone on this thread knows what would make it better.

I agree that they shouldn't be waving the Mexican flag. Yep I agree as well. Waive it the rest of the year if you want, just dont waive it when you want American rights... Exactly! I think it sends a mixed message: we want American rights but yet we want to flaunt our differences and stay loyal to Mexico! WTF. I wholeheartedly support amnesty for illegal immigrants that have worked hard, paid their taxes, stayed out of trouble, and are willing to learn English and the ways of America. Anyone that lives off the system or commits a felony should be deported. Incidentally, that is currently the law for lawful permanent residents. (I know at least one of you will say that they committed a felony already for being here. As a matter of law, being here illegally is a civil infraction, not a criminal one. You can't go to jail for that.) I am not being sarcastic here but I always wanted to know how does an illegal immigrant pay taxes? Do they own homes? Did they get a home loan illegally without showing their two years of taxes paid? How do they get a social security card? Quite often I see them at a Western Union doing wire transfers of their cash money (how are taxes deducted when your employer pays you cash) only to be sent to another country to support their families. (nothing wrong just an observation that they don't spend more of it here to support the local economy) I work as in house investigator for an insurance company where unfortunately we insure these illegals. Don't be mad at me it's my company however we are not the only insurance carrier insuring illegals. Quite often when a claim is presented and they are involved in a loss its usually a hit and run. When they do stop and comply with the law enforcement officer and do not have documents they will be arrested and yes even deported. They actually have more driving rights where they can use an expired international drivers license and it is ok for them to get auto insurance and drive in the State of Florida!! I don't see them at a DMV paying fees and taxes for a drivers license. Please enlighten me if I am wrong because I always here that they pay taxes but I want to know how..

There already exists Americans now that are protecting the border besides the border patrol called The Minute Men but they are no way affiliated with the triple K. I do not support a blanket amnesty for the illegal immigrants.
  13. I would like to see apologies come from the Black Panthers, Al Sharpton, and Jesse Jackson for their awful remarks. I remember the images of the Black Panther organization standing outside the courthouse making all sorts of obsecenities toward these men.

I heard the girl that plays Robin is the front runner for the Wonderwoman movie Maybe if she did the 300 diet and workout plan... She looks perfectly healthy to me. I could see her playing the role.

  17. I know Diaz and believe me he does not favor the Hialeah location. Hialeah is not his district. If you know Diaz personally and he has told you that he does not favor the Hialeah site, then I was wrong, and please accept my apology. However, district 12 does include Hialeah. (see below). So, we're even. Welcome to the District 12 Website District 12 encompasses an area of western Miami-Dade County between SW 8th Street and NW 202nd Street, west of Hialeah. It includes the City of Doral, Hialeah, Hialeah Gardens, Medley, Sweetwater, and Virginia Gardens, as well as a large part of unincorporated Miami-Dade County. Voters in District 12 first elected Jos? "Pepe" Diaz to the Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners in September 2002. Commissioner Diaz was reelected without opposition in September 2006. No please accept my apology I was dead wrong. I am thinking of Joe Martinez. So scratch my previous post. There I admit it.

  19. I really enjoyed watching this movie.
  20. Its too bad Clinton missed his opportunities to kill Osama (treated it like a law enforcement issue)... that fact will never be forgotten. End. Fact: Like that time he went to Congress and asked for help and they flat out turned him down? END. Keep reading Bill O'Reilly books, and believing everything FOX News tells you, though. It's a NO-SPIN ZONE! Of course they're going to play up "a vote for a Democrat is a vote for terrorism" card. Just wait, I really expect this to be one of the dirtiest races for the presidency ever. I mean, the Republicans have to follow a f*** up like Bush and they've already got that smear spot, so of course this is the best they could come up with. How about the great job Bush has done not only fighting the terrorists and finding Osama, but actually finding a way to MULTIPLY willing future terrorists with his awesome "plan" in Iraq? Guess he forgot that portion of his "I've got big Australian cajones and always tell the truth, mate," philosophy on speaking to the press. Sorry man but I understand Bush is not the greatest President of all time, however he's light years better than Kerry or Gore would have been. So sadly enough, Dems couldn't come up with anything better than a lying Kerry or a nut job in Gore. Now they have another flip flopper in Hillary and a candidate Obama (who seems like a nice guy) but will never win the election because of his race and inexperience. Giuliani will tear apart both Hillary and/or Obama in a debate even if they were together. oh and by the way.....terrorists do want a Democrat in office. Think....Clinton should have had Osama. Obama owned him by saying that he should put his money where his mouth is and call up 20,000 more Australian troops to send to Iraq. Howard's son, unsurprisingly, worked for the Bush/Cheney 2004 campaign. yeah I loved that line too. Obama is fun to listen to. Dang I miss Accord, he would make a comment here about how the Australian prime minster is right somehow Yeah Obama is fun to listen to if you want a candidate for President who has no experience and honestly will not beat Hillary and all her money. You are aware that when it's all said and done Bush II will go down as one of the worst presidents, right? Other than being a warmonger and doing ABSOLUTELY nothing he'll be the stem of future problems in the mid-east, not to mention he didn't find Osama with six years to do so. But, continue living in fantasy land. Not the greatest, correct. But to say he's better than ANYONE "would have been" is absolutely ridiculous because it's damn near impossible to predict how they would have done/what they would have done under the circumstances. Plus, I didn't think Kerry was the greatest, but a lame duck over Bush would still be an upgrade. I'm amazed anyone can rationally justify this guy's presidency on any level at this point other than the fact that the second time he was actually nominated to office by the people. I love the republican revision of history where Clinton failed to get Osama even though he was turned down by Congress, etc. first. But, it's all good, you're going to vote republican come hell or high water anyways. Simple slogans like "A vote for democrats is a vote for terror" always work for idiots. Nice post. Summed everything up quite well so I don't have much to add. Baldeagle and WildMarlinMan, I'd recommend not passing the buck and blame for once and actually taking a good look at the current administation. The fact that you still hold Bush in some form of high regard while looking down upon Clinton on the same issue is quite absurd if you actually take a minute to look at it. But Buckeye is sadly right, no matter what is said or done you will never change your views or look deep enough into the issue to make a valid point or decision. The ghost of Accord lives on... Its funny how people automatically assume someone is a Republican just because they remember how history has been played out and make an observation. Its unfortunate but yes we were attacked quite often under Clintons watch. I was upset during the whole Monica Lewinsky deal. For one the president getting busted and two the republicans making a deal out of it. If you have read my previous posts I did mention my voting history. I voted for Clinton twice then Al Gore. I decided to vote this time around for the current administration. My voter card says N.P.A. non party affiliation. You people make some comments on these boards blinded by your own hate for the president. So who really is absurd now? You mean to tell me you can make a fair opinion based on your own hate for the president? Sadly enough these boards will not be interesting if all you hear is a bunch of Bush bashers. I don't agree with everything he has done but I rather have him than Kerrry any day.
  21. Its too bad Clinton missed his opportunities to kill Osama (treated it like a law enforcement issue)... that fact will never be forgotten. End.
  22. Are you working off or near Ponce DeLeon? Many commuters have been taking the Metro rail then getting off at Douglas station to ride the free Coral Gables Trolley that takes you into Gables along the Ponce DeLeon route. So if you did and you wanted that option tri-rail does link with metro-rail.
  23. Prince was great...just a funny observation did you see when he was holding his sign/symbol guitar in the long shadow imagery and when he stood to the side it looked like he had a long curved erection? I was watching it with my wife and we were both cracking up.
