  1. Just don't give up any starting pitching except maybe Olsen while he still has some value.
  2. Look, you can't pick and choose what games to include when evaluating him. You have to include all his games. On ERA, OPS allowed and innings per start he's at the bottom of ther league in all these all-important categories. He stinks.
  3. Terrible year for our young boys. Olsen seriously needs a wake up call... he is such a little baby. One second he is unhittable and the next second he has no idea how to pitch. :bottom I haven't seen this unhittable Olsen all year long.
  4. Everyone has a bad game...get off Olsen's sack. Bad game? An era in the 5's takes more then one game He has given up 5 ER in 4 of his 12 starts. In those 4 starts, he has a 7.46 ERA and 2.27 WHIP In his other 8 starts, he has a 3.67 ERA and 1.39 WHIP. He has more good starts than bad. He's hands down one of the worst starters this season in the NL. It's ridiculous to argue otherwise. He has stunk... a lot of talk and that's it.
  5. I am sure MLB is using the Name, all Star game(s), WBC Championships, etc etc all here for leverage. This will be the sight of the WBC every 4 years when it is done (or every 2 is they do it that often). It might be the chanpionship sight as well. That is a lot of cash that can come into south florida from the carribean and south america and the like. I don't know if you know this but other than Venezuela and Colombia's Caribbean coastal area noone in South America knows or cares about anything related to baseball. Since when do Colombians care about baseball? It's mostly Dominicans, Cubans, and Venezuelans. Nicaraguans, Panamanians, Puerto Ricans, and Mexicans care about baseball, too. Them too, but I've never heard of Colombians being big on baseball. I only know of like two Major Leaguers from Colombia and that's Edgar Renteria and Orlando Cabrera. Nicaragua, Panama, Puerto Rico, Mexico and Cuba are not in South America. Renteria and Cabrera are from Cartagena and Barranquilla and both cities are right off thwe Caribbean coast which is the only area of Colombia where baseball is followed.

  7. I think Lindstrom also was a starter. I wonder why they made him a reliever.
  8. Could always trade mitre before people (including mitre) realize he is sergio mitre and shouldnt be pitching this well Cash in one something nice for him like a CF for the future. But really I expect more injuries and problems as players grow up and all. I would be surpirsed if he keeps it up but I would just ride him out and hope he does. With the way DTrain and Olsen have pitched and with the JJ and Sanchwez injuries I wouldn't trade the one good starter we've had this season.
  9. What is the point of giving the most ABs to the worst hitter on the team? Fredi was on with Boog and these are his reasons for hitting Reggie and Fredo leadoff: - we're trying to win games - to balance out the lineup - to put guys in a position they will be successful That's right from Fredi's mouth. I'm glad we're trying to win games.
  10. interesting. how many times have the other teams scored 10+ runs? The Phillies, who lead the league in scoring, have done it 3 times. You can look in baseball-reference for the other teams: http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/PHI/2007_sched.shtml
  11. I took the time ( :| ) to do the standard deviations for all 16 NL offenses. This is through yesterday. --Team-- --Standard Deviation-- --Runs Per Game--ATL 2.94 4.73CHC 2.89 4.62CIN 3.01 4.69 COL 2.77 4.19FLA 2.99 4.92HOU 2.8 3.9LAD 2.83 4.47MIL 2.77 4.54NYM 2.85 5.1PHI 2.78 5.2PIT 3.14 4.25SD 2.6 4.14SF 2.95 4.38STL 2.98 3.65WSH 2.4 3.67 One run is worth about .025. Top 5 PIT CIN FLA STL SF Those numbers show that through Tuesday, based on runs per game AND standard deviation, we had the 3rd best run scoring team. Through last night we've average 4.92 runs with a 3.04 standard deviation. We've scored 11+ runs 3 times. If in those games we had scored only 5 instaed of 11, 11 and 12 then the average would be 4.56 and the standard deviation would be 2.60. The 2.60 would be tied for the 2nd lowest in the league. I guess some people would prefer if we had scored fewer runs in those 3 games just so we would have a lower standard deviation. I don't get it.
  12. what's our record since Hanley moved to the #3 hole He's freefalling hitting 3rd. I don't think he's freefalling because of the move.. just mentioning it.
  13. We feature two dead-weight spots in CF and C And after tonight we'll have 5 players (qualified players) with OPSes over .850. I may be wrong but I don't think there will be any other NL team with 3 or more. You have to look at the entire team and not only at the holes.
  14. Maybe the only good trade or signing Hendry has ever done. Made out pretty well with Ramirez too. I thought about him and I guess the trade worked out well because they made the postseason but the contract extension was foolish.
  15. Maybe the only good trade or signing Hendry has ever done.
  16. After tonight we'll be 2nd in the NL in runs scored. Does anyone still think we have a poor hitting team?
  17. Usually $1 or $2 but I don't think I've ever had a $60 take out order. I would feel strange tipping $2 on a $60 bill so maybe I wopuld give more but not sure.
  18. I think this may be the only place where you can find people criticizing the Mets rotation.
  19. There's absolutely nothing wrong with the Mets rotation and DTrain is having a pretty bad season. Strong run support hides poor pitching.
  20. I could be wrong but I think the only reason he spent a few days in the majors was because there was a provision in his contract stating he had to be called up. That's what I remember.
  21. Actually his main flaw was that his OBP was completely dependent on his BA. Actually his main flaw is that he has too many flaws.
  22. Then you have Nolasco and Anibal who were pitching injured too. I may be wrong but I think Sanchez and Nolasco both hid the injuries. Don't you think he should take some blame for not figuring something was amiss due to their loss of velocity?
  23. Tank can be useful as a situational lefty but that's it. If Fredi figures that out Tank will be okay.
  24. AJ was a fan favorite until he slumped the last few weeks of the '05 season and ripped McKeon. He certainly wasn't alone in his dislike of McKeon. According to Boog, Beinfest wanted to fire McKeon but Loria wouldn't allow it and I don't think McKeon "retired" on his own.
  25. Seattle is in desperate need of pitching right now. If we move him anywhere they have to be the team that matches up the best. Elite prospect: Adam Jones Good/Okay prospect (high potential low production last 2 years): Jeff Clement Some pitching in the minors too. They have a good catcher so they dont need to keep clement, they are 3.5 out of the division only and 2nd in the WC. If they got pitching they could make their run. But would they deal adam Jones? We're 5.5 games out and we're not even in June so I think it's a bit early to throw in the towel.
