  1. Mismanaging the bullpen is a peridox. The bullpen has not performed all year consistently so I would not call it mismanagement but an unfortunate situation for McKeon. Without Fox, there is no one who can hold leads except Benetiz. The BP is not performing nor has Castro. I would expect changes soon!
  2. Kruk was signed by McKeon with or near the same time as Gwynn. They both had issues with weight and McKeon stayed on both of them to watch the weight and to work harder. We all know where Gywnn is going to be, Kruk will live out his life in WV.
  3. I would bet anything that Luis Casillo and JP will make it! Jack's Choices
  4. With Codero and Easley coming off the bench, we really do not need his RH power. We could use some pop from the LH side but dont be surprised to see him down on the farm if he keeps running the mouth. There are prolly a few in the organization who think that he should be anyway (if not traded) and bring back the Banker. McKeon said it all along that last year's team had the attitude and knew their roles. The "TEAM" won. With last year's success, this attitude will not be tolerated.....regardless of how good Nunez thinks he is.
  5. Griffey....Are you kidding? I think McKeon had enough of him while in Cincy that he would take a stance in this proposal. Casey would be a different story and one that would fit into the Marlin locker room quite well
  6. It will not be Doug Davis. You heard it here first.
  7. I would bet on De Luca then a big trade including one of our pitchers and a catcher (Castro) for a top end reliever
  8. lets not forget that Pokey had a career year in Cincy under McKeon. Great d, speed and some potential with the bat. for the right price, I could easily see him in FLA if we dont resign Castillo
  9. Common guys, this is an auction put on by a Catholic School in North Carolina to help raise money for its physical Ed department. Since McKeon talks about his roots in the Catholic church, he is helping anyway he can.
  10. My take is that as long as he feels he can contribute to the growth of the young team, he will manage the team....assuming management still wants him. His old-school style combined with his innate "senility" and have "fun" attitude work well with youngsters. Personally, I think Pudge also enjoyed the opportunity to lead by example and McKeon recognized this in him (unlike in Cincy years with Larkin and Griffey). Ditto for other vets like Conine and Lowell. Winning is the only cure for team chemistry unless you are the Lakers. There is still prolly more to this than a one year deal. He maybe grooming someone else to be manager and could stay on as a bench coach or in another capacity.
  11. McKeon would be second guessed for life if it failed. [/b Reading this forum, he already is and there are less than 3 games to go!
  12. You seem to state things matter of factly, while I'm simply laying the facts FACTS? a. McKeon made a mistake. ....or did Looper strike him out (the real reason McKeon said he brought him in) b. Didn't know that about McKeon's defensive arrangement.... c But Beckett was only at 108 pitches. 12 pitches to finish out the inning would ahve been no problem. I understand the criticisms against Baker and Little for not using their bullpens, but it's not the same. Huh? d.Did you see McKeon micro-manage like this in the regular season. I know you can spell but do you know what micromanaging means? Whether I know him or not, its irrelevant. This is the World Series..There is no tomorrow. Some things will/do change from a management point of view. They have too......just ask RAMP!

Talking more about Penny, Pavano, Beckett (early), Willis, etc...The pitchers and as long as ENC sits, I am fine with it. Not a Lee fan either at the plate but I prefer D at SS

Just remember, he gives the credit to the players. He will bench them (to learn) then turnaround and put them into a critical situation. The players have responded. Luck....NO!....> A Talent, driven TEAM .....YES
  15. During the good days and as RAMP says, this is an idiotic post.
  16. This team has had some ups and downs the whole year. We made the World Series and down 2-1 to a tough, experienced Yankee team. For all the second guessing on this board, I am amazed at the knowledge of the posters. (PLEASE!) The Marlins did not execute last night the way the have most of the season. As C Fox said, we lost this game as a team. Everyone contributed in some aspect to the loss......but it is just ONE game. We may lose this series but the ride to the World Series has been great. Enjoy the moment. As a side note, Conine, SeaBass and Cabrera need to stay in the lineup. Does RAMP sit Lowell or Enc - both not hitting well at all. At least next year, I suspect the latter will not be here so it will not be a problem. Ramp, give the old man a call at the stadium and tell him what you think.
  17. If you live in Broward, Maneros has the best crab cakes south of Maryland for appetizers. It is a fine establishment that treats its patrons very well. Ask for Tom and tell him Jack sent you. It will be worth it!
  18. or maybe he is relying on a proven, healthy long guy in the bullpen. I think McKeon showed he is not afraid to yank a starter early in these games. You need the arms in the bullpen. Prolly Pavano is more valuable now in the bullpen as a true long guy.
  19. Ramp, As "McKeon" has often stated, Leave you ego at the door. McKeon plays the hot hand and is not afraid to change things IF it does not affect the D too much. We have no good replacements for SeaBass or Lee for that matter. Enc has done nothing for almost a month and is replaceable.
  20. Leaving Gonzales in the lineup, who would "Ramp" take out. Lowell - contact hitter Lee - Good D Enc Cabrera Conine- Contact hitter Hate to tell you but Enc is not as dangerous hitter as Cabrera, is not a smart hitter (swings at first pitches too often in wrong situations and takes pitches in situations where you should be looking for first ball, fastball).............plus I would not expect Enc to be back next year! There may be more to the situation as well but I do not expect to see him unless it is late in a game.
  21. You are right. I was just taking a guess and slipped in the "talked to him." just BSing. sorry for giving you the impression I knew someone
  22. It doesnt really matter. This is a board full of opinions with a few that have contacts that can get some information. Right or wrong, SeaBass will start at SS tonight.
  23. just talked to him, no major changes to lineup. team had a good workout yesterday
