The Bank Thread
I use Wachovia since it's the main bank for UF students, but it has excellent customer service and a very fancy branch in Coral Springs that I use. I don't pay any fees but the interest rate is crap (not that I care). Same here at UNC, Wachovia is almost the mandatory choice. Besides them, only BoA has a branch anywhere near campus, and Wachovia has ATMs on every part of the campus. If I still lived in Miami though, I think Id go with Regions Bank. They have plenty of branches here and usually have lesser wait times inside.

Hate to say it but everyone in the country had that as a major theme of the title game....and they weren't like that right before the game. They were wrong, playing the games decided that. Michigan and OSU both lost their bowls. If they spent half the energy analyzing the Gators as they did bitching that Michigan wasn't going to be there, they would have discovered the Gators weren't half bad. They even went as far as to criticize Urban Meyer for campaigning for his team to get into the big game against ESPN's vocal support for Michigan. Well, everybodys wrong from time to time. Do you want ESPN to be able to see the future now? Also, Urban Crier isnt the first coach and he wont be the last coach to get sh*t for campaigning his team.

No other college program in the country gets the kind of bad rap that the Canes get. Yeah, not every team has a brawl in the middle of a game. It's all so undeserved. :lol To be fair, Clemson and the Cocks had an even bigger fight and it didnt get 1% of the attention that The U got. They fight and no one cares, Miami fights and the football program should be shut down.Nature of the beast, like I said if it 'offends' fans grow some thicker skin or to continue my broken record routine...don't watch if you don't like it. Miami has a past history so another ugly incident (it was way worse then the Clemson/South Carolina fight) adds fuel to the 'fire'. Da U has a bad image. A lot of it is warranted so why would anyone be surprised that the reaction to it would be universally negative? That SI cover was from 12 years ago anyways after the Pell Grant scandal and when Miami was found to be paying it's players along with a slew of other problems. Hardly unwarranted or an outlandish opinion to have at that time. I agree that for when that issue came out, it was definitely a valid argument, because the program was out of control and very lucky to not receive the death penalty. I wish the players, coaches and Athletic Dept. today wouldnt have to take heat because of an era none of them were a part of, but like you said, thats just the nature of the beast.

I'm sorry....i must have missed something...since when is "Da U" a bunch of choir boys who deserve nothing but good coverage. Since when is any team a bunch of choir boys? Most teams have players who cause problems but if a Miami player does something wrong, everybody starts with Da U! jokes and paints the whole program as a bunch of thugs. Thats wrong. Also, Im definitely not buying a bias against the Big 3. What a joke. And using ESPN favoring tOSU going into the Title Game is laughable. Everyone (outside Gainesville) didnt give UF a chance, not just ESPN; the same thing happened going into the UM-tOSU Fiesta Bowl.

Despite the apparent best efforts of Michigan athletic director Bill Martin, Michigan and Notre Dame may not play for two years. The same deal will follow for Michigan State. The current U-M/Notre Dame contract expires in 2011 and, according to Notre Dame athletic director Kevin White, the teams will take at least two years off. A story in the (Ala.) Press-Register today said, "White said the Fighting Irish will take a short break from their Big 10 rivals in the future, replacing Michigan with Oklahoma for a two-year period, then facing Arizona State instead of Michigan State for two years. Figures.....Notre Dame is sick of losing to Michigan. :lol

First arrest made under new film pirating law
Cobb Cinemas in Pembroke Pines/Davie/Weston are: Adult $9.00 Child $6.00 Muvico: Adult $ 9.75 Child $ 6.25 Outrageous. And I have to sit through 10 minutes of previews that I'm not interested in. I disagree about the previews. Its gotten wayy too long because of the block of advertisements that come before them now, but I like the movie trailers themselves. And Ill say it again...I dont see whats so outrageous about paying 6 bucks to catch a movie.

First arrest made under new film pirating law
Honestly, the price of movies tickets isnt THAT bad. Its only like $6.50 at Sunset Place, which I think is a good value. The whole ripoff is food. I never really realized it until I worked at AMC, but those prices are pure robbery...though you could, as Fox said, just not eat that garbage. And about dealing with a**holes in the crowd, I guess Im either lucky about that or just never notice it. The only movie in the last few years Ive gone to where the crowd was noticeable was Spider-Man 3, and in that case the crowd making noise was probably the best part of the movie.

Club Level Question
A good suggestion is going into the Team Store (LF corner, not sure if RF corner is still open), then exiting into the club level. Ive actually been asked to show my ticket like once or twice, but that hasnt happened in a while.

Duke vs. Notre Dame is going to be epic. You know it. I'm going to Duke's 5 home games this year (the fact that there are only 5 is sad). I expect a 12-0 regular season run with a 7-8 touchdown win in the ACC championship game and then a close defensive battle for the national championship. I assume youll also be at the UNC game in Chapel Hill...Sadly thats the one home game I wont make, since its Thanksgiving weekend. Im just hoping itll be on actual TV this year, not that ESPN 360 garbage.

Dan Patrick Leaving ESPN
Well tell me what Rome does so well other then rant and rave about how much of a dork he is with all his new electronics? Tell me the last actual sports talk radio he's done. by the way, your boy Coach K refuses to do Rome's show because of how much of a joke he is. Coach K was only in the Jungle earlier this week because Feinstein did the show. Or maybe he doesnt go in the Jungle because Rome rips him more than any national sports personality I can think of

Already looking forward to Carolina's first road game of the year at ECU...getting trashed in Greenville is always fun. Also looking forward to Davis Bowl I, aka Miami at UNC. But the biggest game I'll be at is The U at FSU. What makes this even more awesome is that its on our fall break so Ill be able to spend a few extra days in Tally partying and getting pumped for the big game. Cant f***ing wait.

Home Run Derby
Bonds is a complete douche for rejecting his invitation. Giants fans get him on the all-star team, and he rewards them by not letting them see him homeruns. Yeah, SF fans never get to see Barry Bonds hit home runs.

Virginia is for f'd up traffic tickets.
The worst part is, I feel like VA cops give out more tickets especially on 95. I'd love to see the numbers, but every 1/2 mile there's a 'restricted spot' in the median for cops to sit and it really isn't that way in any other state. Friends who drive up from the north to get to school have gotten so many tickets in VA but not anywhere else. Very true. My suitemates and a few other friends were driving back from DC and were stopped by a speedtrap in Spottsylvania, got the car searched and were all caught for weed possession. Virginia sucks.

Theoretical Scoring Question.
I have my own official scoring question. If a pitcher faces 27 batters and retires them all, but one of the batters hit a dropped foul popup that was ruled an error but was still subsequently retired, is it still a perfect game? There were no baserunners but there was an error. I'd imagine it's a perfect game but I don't know what the exact rule says. "An error that does not allow a baserunner, such as a misplayed foul ball, does not spoil a perfect game." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perfect_game

Miami Heat
Ebay is the way to go if you ask me. I bought two 300 level tickets for last seasons game against the Rockets for $7. Also managed to buy a 10 game package from a guy who was selling his seats for only $200, and it included tickets to the Lakers and Pistons. Ticketmaster rips you off and I don't know about the Heat Ticket Exchage because I've never felt the need to use it since Ebay turned out to be a great way to go about buying tickets. Just make sure you're buying them from someone with very good feedback. Never fails. Very true. I got tickets the day of ECF Game 4 on eBay for like 25 bucks. Also StubHub is very good, but only if you buy more than a week in advance

Anyone going to any football games this year?
Definitely going to go to Tally for the Miami-FSU game in October. Of course going to UNCs home games, plus the away games at East Carolina and NC State. Possibly going to the away games at Wake and GT, and maybe the last home game vs. Duke (Thanksgiving weekend).

BUMP So now its my Tar Heels vs. Oregon State for the second year in a row. Carolina has had their backs against the wall all postseason; they beat Substandard Carolina in game 3 of the Super Regional, and has won 3 elimination games in a row in Omaha to make it back to the Finals. They have a little extra incentive now (as if they needed it) because of how Oregon State came back to win last years final. This should be fun. GO HEELS! Im so confused. I was about to congratulate you in a different thread but instead you were talking up YOUR Canes.... I hope the Heels take the rematch this year. Yeah its kinda weird, since Im a Carolina student whos grown up in Miami. Im a Canes football/baseball fan since Ive gone to so many games at The Bowl/The Light. But my #1 obsession has always been Carolina basketball, so because of that, and because I now go there, Ive become a fan of all Carolina teams. What are your thoughts on why college basketball and football are such powerhouses and baseball isnt? I think a good reason is because College football and basketball have great atmospheres that can overcome the lack of athleticism and talent. College baseball really doesnt have that. Also CFB and CBB generally coincide with the pros; CFB and NFL both start in the fall and end in January, CBB has its postseason right around the playoff push in the NBA. College Baseball starts in February, when nobody is thinking baseball yet and CBB starts heating up, and wraps up in June, when most people are usually still fixated on the NBA Finals (this year being an exception) and just starting to pay attention to baseball. College Baseball is always overshadowed, which is a shame, because Im a huge fan of the sport and love the Regionals/CWS.
