December 11, 200520 yr On MLB4U.com: Joe Dillon- Youmiri Giants of Japan interested and expect to reach a deal to acquire him from Marlins by end of the month
December 11, 200520 yr Why? He can't be a useful bench player on this team? I did think the same things when they sent over JB Miadich (and his sick strikeout numbers at AA) last season though
December 11, 200520 yr WTF? How do we deal a player from an American league to a Japenese leauge. I've heard of washed up players going to Japan as free agents but never a trade. The Marlins would give up a great player too. I hope Dillion goes nowhere :banghead .
December 11, 200520 yr I love Dillon. But Dillon deserves a chance to not only play everyday but to star in Japan. And he likely is going to make a lot more money over there. I'd be pretty happy for him.
December 11, 200520 yr On MLB4U.com: Joe Dillon- Youmiri Giants of Japan interested and expect to reach a deal to acquire him from Marlins by end of the month I think that's great for Joe. If he can have a career there I wish him nothing but the best. Run Joe, Run...
December 11, 200520 yr I agree, I think this will be a good thing for Joe, he could be a big-time player in the Japanese League.

Usually "trades" between Japan & USA are more about a payoff to buy the player. There's a process for it thats been developed in the past few years
December 11, 200520 yr Bad move. You dont even noe who we r getting even though japan is like AAAA but not major leagues :whistle
December 11, 200520 yr Again...Marlins FO is the worst For letting a guy who MAY or MAY NOT get a BENCH spot this spring? And probably getting money in return? Some of the anti-managment sentiment is getting absurd.
December 11, 200520 yr Umm...who cares? It isn't like Dillon is going to be a great major leaguer, and why should we stand in his way for the chance for greater success (and a bigger payday) in Japan.
December 11, 200520 yr I was really hoping we'd get a chance to see what Joe could do on our club this year. I wish him all the best as he is really a stand-out guy.
December 11, 200520 yr I think we all like and appreciate Dillon and his story of comeback, and I think he could have been valuable depth if we had stayed contenders for 2006. However, at this phase of the rebuilding process he would only blcok the development and playing time of younger players. So why not make a profit in his sale to Japan? I'm assuming we get monetary considerations for this transaction, which may not be the case.
December 11, 200520 yr If Joe Dillon wants to go to Japan and play every day, I wish him the best and hope he tears it up. We shouldn't (and won't) stop him from going over there.
December 11, 200520 yr The guy is 31 years old and is not part of the rebuilding effort. And let's face it, his D just won't make it at the MLB level. At least with Uggla, he's young enough and has the potential to improve under Perry Hill, Dillon right now is as good as he gets.
December 11, 200520 yr I think he should be the Marlins starting 2B. I don't like this. Its all about Danny Uuuuuuuuugla at 2B
December 12, 200520 yr Not in our future. However terrible we may or may not be, we aren't in the business of giving roster spots away. Dillon wasn't a sure bet to win a starting job, or even bench spot next year. Let him go where he has a greater chance of playing and to a team where he can make an impact.
December 12, 200520 yr But he has such a great story. It's almost like you have to root for him to succeed.
December 12, 200520 yr Stories are for the Devil Rays and Dodgers. I'd rather public relations not interfere with baseball decisions.
December 12, 200520 yr Umm...who cares? It isn't like Dillon is going to be a great major leaguer, and why should we stand in his way for the chance for greater success (and a bigger payday) in Japan. We're probably getting money. Dillon isn't that good. Good move.
