I'll go with Owens in this bunch, I'd rather keep Tank as a fireman to keep our lead into the 9th... although if Pinto steps up... no problem with that... I'd love to see Koplove be consistent... but probably not as a closer... a solid MR would be fine..

We don't have too many lefty specialists? and by too many... I mean there are 5 on the 40 man roster... 2 of which are Olsen/Willis... and the other two are Pinto/Tank and then Paul Mildren whom I know nothing about

Someone who will close the door on all these inane polls that seem to pop up everyday featuring choices no one has ever seen hit, catch or pitch.

Lefties shouldn't be closing for us.

Do you have any reasoning?

I view lefties as drastically more valuable in innings 6-7-8 in preserving leads where they can often times be used as specialists and not 'have' to get out of full innings. Plus considering our lefties - Tank (26 BB, 41 IP. 1.43 whip) and Pinto (27 BB, 29 IP. 1.58 whip), that's just a 9th inning disaster waiting to happen. It's not like we have Billy or BJ, or anything close to them. Given the options, Owens fits the profile better then the other 4. Ideally, I don't think we should thrust the closer roll onto a rookie. I'd rather have a cheap veteran with some experience (Hermanson, Park) or Nolasco (whose RP splits are much better then as a SP).

I went with Tank. We have Pinto that can be our lefty specialist. Owens sounds like a good pitcher, but I want to see him in person before I say that he's closer material.

None of them. Lindstrom.

I would say the same, but I gave my vote to Owens in his absence. Give a high-powered arm a clean slate in the 9th and I think results will be generally good. And I think Tank is too good at what he does to be moved into the closer spot.

I think Tankersley and Lindstrom could make a nasty 8/9 duo. You give a youg, arrogant, high-powered arm the ball in the ninth at Dolphins Stadium and like you said, generally you're going to get positive results. And if he doesn't work out, we have a ton more options.

Kevin Gregg!!!

Gregg, Lindstrom, & Nolasco should be on the list.

And I stand by the opinion that Tank does what he does too good to be moved to another role. We should, if no other group of fans, be well enough aware of how much harder it is to find a reliable setup man than a good closer. The Lindstroms, Owens, and Greggs of the world have a much better shot (IMO) of filling Borowski's shoes than they do Tanks. Just my opinion.

Gregg has no chance to close. Lindstrom is a very long shot although should probably be added. Nolasco could have been added but at this point, with Sanchez and Johnson being somewhat injured- he will remain in the rotation. Nolasco isn't a RP at this point.
