Marlins Looking at Helms

Featured Replies

To take over for Boone, sure. Didn't Olsen and Helms have problems this season though?

who does olsen have a problem with

$2.15 mil is too much for Loria :|

It really doesn't matter who plays 3b for the Marlins in '08. They'll likely lose 90-100 games regardless. Maybe even more than 100

If the Marlins do, in fact, trade for Wes Helms and we end up paying him the $2.15 million, then 1/6 of our payroll will be spent on a guy who would be a backup on most Major League clubs.

:lol

Sure, but only if you first explain to me why you think a team that lost 91 games LAST year who just traded away .320/.401/34/119 and has a projected ace of Rick Vandenhurk wouldn't lose more than 100 games.

lol, ok, realistically speaking, Vandenhurk won't really be the ace :p , but considering the fact that any pitcher the Marlins would make their ace would be a 4th or 5th starter on any other team tells you that they'll lose 100 +

Vanden Hurk's got the potential to be a 2-3.

I personally think someone who will surprise alot of people is Scott Olsen. I see him lowering his BB and raising his K's. Wouldn't be at all surprised to see him at below 3.75.

This is dramatic.

They won't lose 100, just how they didn't in 2006. The pitching is better and Hanley, Hermida, Hammer, Uggla, and Jacobs can all still hit baseballs. Plus a 3B and whatever Maybin brings if he starts for the team. The offense won't be dreadful.

We're going to be OK. Don't worry. There is a very strong possibility they win more games next year if they fill out their last 3-4 roster spots with the right kind of players. We'll see what happens.

With Wiley behind him...This wouldn't surprise me at all. I think the kid learned some very valuable lessons last year as far as his maturity on and off the field. Personally, I have some high expectations for Trahern. A ground ball pitcher with other pitches is fun to watch and hard to hit successfully. Just go back in your memory to any time last year WE faced one.

You think the current roster can win more than 72 games?

How the hell are you going to replace 132 runs created in the line up?

????

I'd rather re-sign Boone and bring in someone else to compete with him for the job. I don't know if he can have the same production he had last season, but it's worth a $1 Million to find out. Worse case, he's our go-to bench bat.

Helms ...why bother ? and why would he want to come here ? we are rebuilding the rebuilding process no need for Loria lose even more money by obtaining a high salary player like helms

um guys.....did we forget about robby andino??

No, but we should.

Exactly.

Also, I'd rather resign Boone than give up any kind of talent for Helms.
