And it's got good movement. A little bit of command issues but he always seemed to be able to throw strikes when he absolutely had to. :thumbup

I agree, Beckett wasn't who I thought he reminded me of....maybe a little like a Brad Penny type if you want to compare him to any former Marlin rookie pitcher.

Could easily been #600. Did pretty well for his first game

I could be wrong, but he used to pitch mainly with the fastball, and curve...I don't remember Beckett having 3+ offspeed pitches early on, as some people are saying.

June 9, 200818 yr Considering that he made his debut on short notice, it was a good outing. He will just have to settle down with his pitching in his next appearance, and lower the walks. I'm not so sure it was short notice. Didn't they hold him out of a start at AA? And I think it was pretty obvious we were going to be making another move and it was probably going to be him. The Del La Cruz call up was on short notice.

The Reds did have some inside info on him. According to 790's in-game talk, their AA club faced him twice this year. I'm sure they at least made some phone calls. Not the same as film, but... Anyway, I see your point and do agree with it. Gotta see more from a rookie. I like to see a guy go two or three starts vs a team before I put any label on him. Like to see if he can adjust to the adjustments. One of the reasons I never like to see a pitcher win ROY, including DTrain. Great outing. Keep up the good work.

Maybin is not as polished as Bruce, He lacks the discipline at the plate that Bruce has, Maybin will be awesome it just that he still has some problems with the breaking ball
