June 8, 200818 yr He will stay. Fact is, his value to the bullpen is even more immense. And what I mean by that is...him staying makes our bullpen better b/c we now have 2-3 long relievers out there (Badenhop, Waechter, and even Kensing can go multiple innings).
June 8, 200818 yr He walked a lot of guys, but he hardly let it hurt him as far as the score was concerned. I expect that his control will improve as he gets some more time, his track record shows reasonable control. There's no doubt that he could help turn our rotation around. We've been barely scratching out wins from most of our starters, but Tucker could be that first dominant guy in it (even though Miller had a good run, and should be a good pitcher at some point, he isn't what I would call dominant).

June 8, 200818 yr I was wrong in the other thread when I said his slider is a pitch plus. It's not. Yet. The fastball has so much movement on it though, he can use it as a K pitch, as we saw today. The change up was nice and the potential is there for it. When you can throw a 94 MPH with that kind of movement and come back with an 80 MPH change, you are going to have a lot of batters off balance. Now if he can only show that slider as a strike a few times a game, he will be fine. Exciting to have an arm like this in our rotation. Volstad is next.

June 8, 200818 yr Very impressed. Great fastball, lots of movement. Yeah, too many walks, but the Reds have a pretty good lineup with some patient hitters. The command will come. He had good command in the minors. It's nice having a guy in the rotation that can bring heat like that. When Miller gets things figured out, they could be a dominating 1-2 punch. Think of next season's rotation with Tucker, Miller, Olsen, Johnson, one of either Sanchez/Volstad/Nolasco/Mitre....so many quality arms...good problem to have.

I didn't see a curve today from Tucker and have never heard him associated with one. He throws a slider.
