June 22, 200818 yr That was the WORST Save ever. They need to keep track of that stat differently. I think they should have a save and a non-save. Like if you let the Winning Run come to the plate at any point during your save opportunity then it should be a non-save and a save should be when the pitcher never faces the winning run in a game that they lead by 2 runs or less. So if it's a 1 run game and there is a man on 1st with 2 outs, no save? Well I guess a better way to do this would be to say if a pitcher allows the tying run to reach base it is a non-save. Now if a pitcher comes into a situation where the tying run is already on base then obviously a save would only be recorded if he gets out of it without any runs scoring. But in a standard save situation there is NO reason for any closer to EVER allow the winning run to get on base. Even if he wiggles out of trouble.
June 22, 200818 yr OMG what a win! i had to leave for the last 3 innings, so i didnt know what happened. I check the score on espn really quick and saw that we were winning, then like literally 5 minutes later, the bases were loaded for the As with 2 outs but thankfully Cantu ended the game with his golden glove. ONE GAME BABY THATS IT ONE AND WILLINGHAM COMES BACK IN 2 DAYS!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
June 22, 200818 yr To give you an idea how great of a win that was, just imagine how bad of a loss that would've been. Wow. Would have tied last night for most frustrating loss of the year. BTW: Anyone else think Mark Ellis scores from first if Cantu doesn't get that ball? I do. I dont feel last night was the most frusterating loss of the year probably 3rd. There was a game in New York earlier when Amezaga hit a solo shot in the 11th I believe and I for sure thought we were going to take it, only see Gregg or Miller come on to blow it can't remember that was the most frusterating loss for me. yea that was very frustrating because that was the first time i ever saw amezaga hit a homerun, and it AFTER erick chavez hit one. but it happens, the important thing is we wo today and philadelphia lost.

June 22, 200818 yr Does Mike Jacobs get that ball? yes or no No As a matter of fact, I don't even think he comes close to it.
June 22, 200818 yr Does Mike Jacobs get that ball? yes or no No As a matter of fact, I don't even think he comes close to it. Well, first off, he's lefty, so it's easier for him to catch a ball to his right than to his left. I don't think he would have had a shot. Now Helms, on the other hand, could.

June 22, 200818 yr Does Mike Jacobs get that ball? yes or no Negative. Cantu saved the whole freaking game right there. Gregg needs to buy him some cake. I think I'm just now finally recovering from that 9th inning heart attack.

I think I'm just now finally recovering from that 9th inning heart attack. Yea I dont think Jacobs would have had the speed or the length to reach that ball he may have knocked it down but that would have been a play at the plate to end the game I will take the Cantu stop lol.
June 22, 200818 yr The media has always been like that bro, dont worry they will see in time, and yes hahaha the Phillies will be golfing or doing whatever they do in PENN in October :woot I'm sticking with my preseason predictions. Although I may be wrong with where the WC comes from. I said West, but it looks like it may be the Central.
June 22, 200818 yr Does Mike Jacobs get that ball? yes or no I think very few firstbasemen make that play, I'm pretty sure neither Jacobs or Helms would make that play. Cantu looked very much in his element on that play.

June 22, 200818 yr :flex hehehe I watched it a couple of times and the man stretching like crazy to make the play, so yeah I'm in the camp that says neither alternatives at first make the play, if for no other reason than his height and arm span. But it's not about who wouldn't have made the play, we should be celebrating the fact that he did. :clapping

Hard to say but I kinda agree with you Gofish...Jake would have gotten it but maybe not had fielded it cleanly
June 22, 200818 yr I was on the edge of my seat for basically the whole 9th, and I might've woke people up with my emphatic "YES!" when Cantu flipped the ball for the final out. Phew. Learning the art of the fist pump has come in handy for me. I did a fist pump at the same time :mischief i had to leave in the top of the 8th and by the time i was at the elevator cody had tied it but by the time i had arrived at the club for my friends birthday i had my cell in hand and even after we had sat at the table i was still looking at the game on my fone......i was freaking out!! when they finally got the third out i yelled f***!!! and everyone looked at me haha.......something is really wrong with gregg's control
