Is it just me or does anyone else think it's time to get rid of

Jim Presley as our hitting coach?

Its not just you that think it waaaaay past time to fire Presley, but the FO seems reluctant to make a change. Remember he's been here longer than Fredi, for reasons to me go unexplained.

It'll be interesting to see what happens to our coaches this off-season. I think Presley may be done, but maybe also Wiley, it depends on whether or not the FO pins the blame on the early season failure of Ricky, the sophomore slump and lack of adjustment of Volstad, and Miller's fortunes on him or if they give Wiley credit for JJ's strong return.

Something's gone wrong with our hitting for more than a season now. The Marlins strike out in tons, situational hitting is as bad as it can get. How may times have Marlins failed to advance runners, to hit behind them, to bunt them over. For example: last night Hanley came to bat with runners at the corners and nobody out down 5-2 in the score, all we knew was we were shut down for that frame with only two pitches. Two pitches?

We will have to correct this ASAP if we still want to play October baseball

get dawson or whoever the guy who taught hanley how to hit with risp (nforgot his name right now) to replace him

Was that Perez or Dawson?

i think it was tony perez. he or dawson would be great but they wouldnt want to travel as much as they would have to probably

Get Piazza---he got experiance as a hitting coach with Team Italy, I'm sure he would want to get into it.

He's also shown a willingness in the past to be a Marlins Player, so why would a coach be any different.

He lives in Miami too, so it's a great fit.

No one was a better hitter then Mike in the 90's and early 00's. No one can be worse then pressely either. Lol.

Wiley hasn't done a bad job at all, imo.

The only coach on this coaching staff that I like.

Presley, Porter, and Andy Fox can go... The team's offensive inconsistencies over the past few seasons have not improved with Presley(and it pisses me off when they face Moyer that no one makes any changes / adjustments at the plate), Porter sometimes makes really bad decisions on holding or sending runners, and I give Andy Fox some blame for Hermida getting picked off after his 8th inning base hit the other week. If Andy Fox wasn't so busy trying to give Hermida a high five for getting a base hit, he would have told Jeremy to hustle his ass back to the bag. Bench coach can go too. The game from last month when Fredi made switches and Coghlan wasn't supposed to be out there but a pitch was already thrown -- the bench coach is supposed to keep on top of that. Neither Fredi or the bench coach even realized that Coghlan went back out there. The only coach that seems to try is Wiley.

Pretty long arm Andy has if this were true. But it's not. That was simply a brain fart by Jeremy. Actually, Andy hasn't done a bad job at all. Taking guys that have never played certain positions and working with them. The turn around with Hanley's defense can be directly contributed to him as well.

Been calling for Presley to get fired for some time now. Far too many K's and the failure to adjust is just pitiful.

I like him too (obviously, see avatar :D ), and think our pitching struggles have been more a sign of those individuals than of Wiley's ability. Plus, Wiley's had his hands full with early season Rickey, Volstad, and Miller, plus our mystery 5th starter, so this season he's had to juggle many balls.

I think that is another reason why we should get a veteran, semi-successful back of the rotation guy. He can be the "TA" of sorts to Wiley's "Professor."

I watched the game and the replay. Fox was too busy congratulating Hermida on his base hit. The point is, why wasn't Fox paying attention too, he should have been on Jeremy to get back to the bag, neither one was paying attention...

yet another poster who puts absolutely no accountability on the players. are you seriously putting some blame on andy fox for hermida not getting the f*** back to the base? f***ing ridiculous

watch your mouth young man

seriously this is the most impatient team in baseball , there are teams out of it that have more patient's then us.we could be down by 7 runs and no outs and no one on base and you'll still see our guys trying to hit a solo HR instead of getting runners on base. we dont put the pressure at all on the opposing pitcher.teams with line ups that love to swing for the fences calls for alot of easy outs , thats why you see below average pitchers look like aces against us.

lol, sry, i just cant stand when people put 0 accountability on the players

Dumbass, this thread is about the coaching, not the players. I never said Hermida was 100% innocent...and it IS Andy Fox's job to make sure the runner gets back to the base. My point is the staff is to blame as much as the players are. They are not doing their jobs either

ya, im the dumbass, yet you are the guy who isnt putting 100% of the blame on hermida for getting thrown out at 1st on a single to left field. you are also putting blame on fox for attempting a hi 5.

the staff aside from presley has been fine.

Glad you agree. Hermida did screw up but he is not 100% at fault. Fox wasn't paying attention either. Why have someone stand out there as first base coach then?

wow, youre hilarious. and fox shouldnt have to tell a guy not to f***ing walk back to first base. you must be kidding if you arent putting 100% of the blame on hermida. you are doing exactly what most people do on this board, put no accountability on the players

Again, you keep saying that I do NOT blame Hermida... If you'd actually read what I said earlier, Hermida does get some of the blame, and Fox shouldn't have to tell Hermida to get back, but in a tight game in the 8th inning, Fox wasn't paying attention either and didnt do his job. I blame BOTH of them.
