'09 Marlins reminiscent of '03 Champs

I don't even have to read the article to tell you the 2003 team was a lot better.

Exactly. Especially the hitting.

I'd say more like "especially the starting pitching."

I'd say more like "especially the coaching staff."

Pretty much every aspect of the team was better

Starting pitching (completely blows this team's starting staff into kingdom come)

Line up

Defense

Management

Honestly not sure about the bullpen though.

Knew I shouldn't have used the same heading as the article. >_>

Let me clarify myself. My intentions, with posting this article, was to keep the enthusiasm-ball rolling.

To continue to rally the troops and share with everyone here a lighthearted, feel-good article (albeit not exactly sticking to the article name and being incorrect in some aspects).

Now I know to be more specific from now on.

The 03 team was much better. Especially the hitting...and the pitching...and the coaching staff...and the pen...and the defense...

What were we talking about?

I actually was thinking this team is starting to play like 2003....lets see if they can keep it up. They are still coming together in many ways. I really wished we had Leland in the dugout

2009 has a better bench

And the lineup isn't too far behind. Remember we had the 678 black hole in Encarnacion, Alex and Hollandsworth most of the year.

2003: 4.64 runs vs. a 4.61 league average. .754 OPS vs. 749 lg. avg,

2009: 4.66 vs. 4.45, .742 vs. 740

I agree, like I mentioned in another thread we may see the magic again this year, the team is fighting fire with fire, they don't give up and that's the spirit.

The only thing that really scares me is the skipper's decision-making some times.

If this team CONTINUES to play like they have there will be many similarities. Everything is clicking together and we are on the footsteps toward another 2003 season.

All I know is that the team's chemistry seems to have improved greatly. Every time Craig or whoever interviews a player after a win they always say how the team doesn't give up, how they know they can get back in the game, and that is a great attitude to have in mid-August.
