August 12, 200916 yr Didn't see the game but from looking at the box score, I'm starting to worry a bit about Volstad. Having only 2 dependable starters in the midst of a late season battle to make the playoffs is cause for concern. Good to see the offense continue to rack up the hits and runs, which hopefully carries over to tomorrow night as we go for the series victory.

All the more reason to make a run after a Doug Davis or Jon Garland (I'd prefer Davis ) And for all who want Duke, he isn't going to pass through waivers, so don't get your hopes up. If we are going to go after any pitchers, Davis and Garland are the two you need to look at.
August 12, 200916 yr we've been playing well since acquiring johnson and batting him 2nd. too bad we probably won't be able to resign him
August 12, 200916 yr Undakai - great sig, albeit a tad oversized. Great win tonight, and Fredi's [bullpen] management looked pretty good. Bonifacio did a nice job as well. It's great to see the offensive success spread around the lineup. I'd love to see Cantu and Hermida turn it on, but man, just about everyone else has been raking lately. Keep it up!
August 12, 200916 yr Volstad actually didn't look TOO bad and seemed to have things under control until that 5th inning where he hit the batter, gave up a walk, and then gave up the bunt hit. Went downhill fast from there.
August 12, 200916 yr Also, EXTREMELY disappointed in Frank Forte. While I generally approve of him, he decided to use the word "schizophrenic" to describe this Marlins team. That's in terrible taste, first of all, and it's also wrong. I don't mean to sound all didactic, but schizophrenia is usually characterized by extreme paranoia and implies nothing about split-personalities, which is what I assume Frank what trying to imply. Bad, bad word choice.
August 12, 200916 yr I'm going to die a young man if the Marlins keep up these wild affairs :lol Great comeback tonight, and an even better job of not folding over when we gave it up in the 9th. Solid job by the bullpen overall. Props to Uggla, but I'm giving the Fish of the Game to Baker. My mancrush grows every day. He had a big single during the comeback and then the double to put us on top. Stinks we blew it in the 9th, but a win is a win. I'll take it at this point in the season.

Is it gaining on your man-crush for Mister Lady Gaga? lol :lol
August 12, 200916 yr Volstad's last two starts are alarming. Everyone's going to struggle a bit, but he's walking # 8 hitters and hitting the opposing pitcher, and then getting his ass handed to him. That said, our offense is on fire. We've scored 29 runs in the last 3 games (but given up 14 in the last two games *gasps).
August 12, 200916 yr I just saw the pitch Nunez gave up the lead on....looked like a decent pitch- down and away to the lefty, and he just roped it.
August 12, 200916 yr Just got back. Great game. But let me just say this. The reason we won that game was because of the home plate umpire. He squeezed Oswalt about as bad as possible in that big inning, calling the low strike a ball every time then when the Astros were hitting, it was somehow a strike. I think he knew it too because Michael Bourn really gave it to him after that "strikeout" and didn't get ejected. I picked other on the poll because he was by far the reason we even had a chance to win this game. Oh, and one more thing. In the 9th with Hermida on second, why do you pinch hit with Bonifacio? Why not get Bonifacio's speed on the bases and let Paulino hit? I know you don't want to waste your backup catcher but its the bottom of the 9th with the winning run in scoring position. Bonifacio's best asset is his speed and we are not using it whatsoever.

I could care less if she was a man, woman, or polar bear. Her music and style is awesome. Also, even though the Phillies won the Rockies lost and Giants are well are their way to losing against the Dodgers. We are 2 out of the WC now. The win earned us something at least.
August 12, 200916 yr Just got home from the game and even though we did get the Win, it was a terrible game for the fish. Volstad was just bad after the 4th inning and I believe he actually had a no hitter going into the 5th but he was getting ripped. Other then Leo the bullpen did a solid job but again leo could have ended the game 2 innings earlier but things like that happen. Offense did a great job working Oswalt and scoring runs in the later innings but Hanley, Cody and Cantu seemed to do terrible tonight with RISP. Great Job by C.C and Johnson tonight as they all seemed to get on base almost every at bat and Johnson raised his batting average to over .300. At least we got the Win tonight and gained ground on the Rockies in the Wild Card but Gregg does it again as Philly wins it in extras against the Cubs. Just keep on winning and put pressure on the other teams ahead and we should find ourselves a playoff spot. Also, Bo Porter is not a smart 3rd base coach, the end(even if Hermida was actually safe).

Went downhill fast from there. Volstad pitched well for the first 4 innings. Oswalt got nicked by a moving 2 seamer and Tejada's chopper over third basemans head was the lucky hit. Could have been a double play ball but it bounced so high. Great comback after the blown save. Go Marlins

He did seem to open the zone up towards the end. By the way Id like to know how often Hanley goes up there guessing a certain pitch. Obviouslyits working for him but man fastballs down the pipe need to be swung at.
August 12, 200916 yr Knew we were gonna win. Called the walkoff wrong, though. Dan Uggla came through this time. Also, giving Fredi props for managing the bullpen, tonight. He did a good job tonight.

Lol, I'm just talking about a video posted on youtube where it exposes what appears to be his penis. Not sure if they CGI'd it in there, but it's rather disturbing. lol
August 12, 200916 yr Hey guys Im an new user i found out about marlinsbaseball when i came to spain to spend the summer and i was so mad because i couldnt keep in track with the marlins but this website is great well i picked uggla as the fish of the game! What a game! :welcome Love the feeling of not knowing who to pick for FOTG when we win, so many options! These are my considerations... Uggla: AB - 5, R - 0, H - 3, RBI - 2, BB - 1, SO - 0 Johnson: AB - 4, R - 3, H - 2, RBI - 0, BB - 2, SO - 0 or... The Bullpen: 6.0 IP , 5 Hits, 2 Runs, 2 Earned Runs, 0 BB, 6 Strikeouts, 0 HR. Ultimately the Bullpen helped us stay in it for a chance to win and didn't let it become a blowout, but the offense came to the rescue as well. NJ is a BB-MACHINE, but my vote shall go to the walk-off hero........ you know him..... ... ... HIS NAME IS DAN UGGLA!! :wave
August 12, 200916 yr great game!! this was my third game since ive been back but on thursday its back up to montreal for school. really gonna miss south florida and the fish. i guess at least i have mlb.tv.
August 12, 200916 yr Knew we were gonna win. Called the walkoff wrong, though. Dan Uggla came through this time. Also, giving Fredi props for managing the bullpen, tonight. He did a good job tonight. probably cuz uggla didnt hit a home run lol

August 12, 200916 yr Author Coghlan is seriously something else right now. There's nothing else to say about him.
August 12, 200916 yr Uggla hands down is the player of the game and... Bo Porter is up to his old antics. That wasn't very nice Bo You are a bad, bad, very bad man Bo!
