Posted October 14, 200915 yr http://30for30.espn....ching-hell.html Its not on until sometime next year. Is the picture on that page misleading or did Alou actually have no chance to catch the ball? Or is that after Bartman touched it? Man, I so wanna get in the Delorean and go back 6 years. It was amazing reading the NLCS threads and the Bartman threads. I also noticed that 99% of the people posting in those threads aren't here anymore and weren't anyone that's here now. Not even the mods. What gives? Is this forum like ER? I think the only member I recognized was the guy with the FSU helmet avatar. So I guess he's like Keri Weaver(the only character to be in every season of ER). And I'm the same age as Steve Bartman. Interesting. There's also a 30 for 30 on UM about the football team's rise and dominance in the 80's: http://30for30.espn....film/the-u.html
October 14, 200915 yr If Bartman wasn't there, most major leaguers would have caught it... but alou was garbage in the field so you never know
October 14, 200915 yr One can never tell whether Alou could have made the catch, if you look back at that post-season the Marlins got lucky earlier in the NLDS when Cruz the gold-glover missed a sure out in game 3 to keep the Marlins alive.

October 14, 200915 yr If Alex Gonzalez makes the routine double play, no one remembers Steve Bartman. The Cubs losing was not Bartman's fault at all.

I may not be George Clooney, but I'm at least Stamos.
October 14, 200915 yr I think I heard somewhere that Alou actually said he probably wouldn't have caught it anyway.
October 14, 200915 yr I think I heard somewhere that Alou actually said he probably wouldn't have caught it anyway. Then he followed that up by saying he did have a chance.
October 14, 200915 yr It seems Alou will say whatever whoever is asking seems to want to hear. His comments about not being able to catch the ball could not have been clearer, that is until questioned about his statement on same, then his answer is 180 degrees in the other direction. It's gotten to the point where he is the last person one would go to for an expert opinion. But that's not surprising considering his primary motivation appears to be self-preservation.
October 14, 200915 yr What would be a real coup is if this director can somehow land an interview with Bartman. Even 6 years later, he's still a recluse who refuses to talk to anyone about the incident. I've already watched the first two 30 for 30 films, one about the huge Wayne Gretzky trade to the Kings, the other about the Baltimore Colts and their marching band, which still existed even after the team left in the middle of the night to go to Indianapolis.
October 15, 200915 yr Is there a schedule anywhere for the 30 for 30? Some of the docs seem pretty interesting and I'd love to see them.

October 15, 200915 yr contrary to people's belief I am still alive ... I lurk but don't post because honestly, I ran out of things to say, and I dont like math and/or crazy stats
October 16, 200915 yr Even if Alou makes the catch, that's still only the second out in the inning, and a 3 run lead in the eighth isn't exactly insurmountable. Poor guy was just a scapegoat. He's done a great job of keeping a low profile, though. I haven't seen one picture of him outside Wrigley Field in the 6 years since it happened.

Because the Cubs have moved on to blaming other people/things since 03.
October 18, 200915 yr lurker. Was Lurker 1-343 taken? It was never bartmans fault, the Cubbies, who played like crap that inning needed something to latch onto.....only an idiot would blame a fan when the ball was over the fence.....idiot=cubs fans, not anyone on this board
October 19, 200915 yr and I dont like math and/or crazy stats i'm with ya on that one brother remember when you could actually have fun and smart conversations about baseball? ... now I simply cant compare with these kids talking all this numbers, they beat me
September 8, 201014 yr Author According to Wikipedia it will air on October 26th. There's no schedule date on ESPN's 30 for 30 site.
