gizmo
Marlins win the first game of the series, 14-9. W: Sanchez (6-3) L: Shields (5-5) 2B: C Coghlan 2 (10); M Stanton (1) 3B: M Stanton (1); W Helms (2) HR: G Sanchez 2 (7) This game should have stayed a blowout. We are lucky we won
gizmo
Btw, Coghlan saw 31 pitches tonight. The next closest on the team was Helms with 20.
AeroFishOne
Coghlan and Sanchez were a dynamic duo and both deserve fish of the game. That one too punch was awesome tonight. You really can say more good things about the starting lineup today then bad things. Hanley has to get on track. I about forgot he was on the team today. A big Thumbs up to Rich and Tommy for calling out sternly that we need a bullpen. You could hear the frustration in Tommy's voice. Theres not much a manager can do when he doesnt have a consisten arm to go to in the pen. Pen caused this game to get to close for comfort. Overall very happy with our offense today. Rabbethan
Gaby didn't need to see that many pitchers. Pow Gabriel. (CC a close second. He was hitting .217 on May 30th.)

Jonny Ramos
CC was just incredible tonight. Glad to see the O score runs tonight. Stanton with a double and tripple, but with 3 bad looking strike outs. Gotta work on those. His speed really impressed me though. Oh, and please fix the "View new content area". It's a pain opening every thread on the iPhone. Thanks.
Sirspud
Gaby has shown he's a very solid hitter, but it was nice to see his power strokes be able to get a few out tonight.
CyggyMarlin
Im not worried yet about Stanton, its only 3 games... one with Halladay and one against the best team in baseball
jmp
Im not worried yet about Stanton, its only 3 games... one with Halladay and one against the best team in baseball Huh? Couldn't watch the whole game today due to a sh*tty internet connection, mlb.tv didn't want to cooperate, but what I did see was a whole lot of CC and Gaby! dim
I guess Daniel Jennings may be the next victim to try and help this bullpen out. I feel like he is going to be called up very soon.
marlinsno1
Glad they scored 14 runs haha. Needed everyone of them. Felt bad for Tank in that he should have gotten 2 outs on those popups. As a Yankees fan (fish are my NL team), super happy they held on. Now lets get em tomorrow boys!

Undakai
Gaby didn't need to see that many pitchers. Pow Gabriel. (CC a close second. He was hitting .217 on May 30th.) Lol, and you guys wanted to send him down. Simply amazing what he has done this month, hope he keeps it up for the rest of the year (okay, so I don't think he's going to hit .500 for the rest of the year, I'm not crazy, but looking forward to him getting his Avg back up to +.300 Glad to see him finally out of his Sophomore slump, and tearing it up, setting the table for our team...(okay, mostly setting the table for Gaby and Cantu, as the other two in in the top 5 aren't doing so hot with men on base). Is Cody's Avg above 300 right now, did I read that right? That is awesome (even though his power stroke seems a bit down this year, nice to see him still coming through with the hits and RBI's. h2r09
Did we seriously not make any moves to the bullpen after the game? Tank, Buente, and i guess Sosa need to be DFA and we need to get guys like arthur Rhodes (guys like him because the reds are actually contenders, David Aardsma, Heath Bell (see Arthur Rhodes). All I know is this team will continue to be around the .500 mark until they improve the bullpen with guys who are actually good and can throw strikes consistently. gatorengy
didn't we look at Heath Bell before but he cost too much? I'd love him on the fish but top relievers don't come cheap.

ArtisticHate
Coghlan and Gaby Sanchez were amazing. This felt like the White Sox 13-0 game where everyone bar CC got hits... only this time Hanley was the one not to get those knocks. Since that White Sox series (where CC was 0-14) he has hit in every single game bar the Halladay perfect game. That's 15 out of his last 16 games, going 29 for 66 at a .439 average. If Hanley goes on a run like this now... we'll be happy.
Erick
The pen really wasn't as bad as people are making it out to be tonight. For one, the guys that pitched shouldn't have been pitching. VandenHurk in a 10 run game? Hensley had to pitch the 9th up by 6 runs? Really? Anyway, VandenHurk actually should've had a 1, 2, 3 inning in the 8th. The missed catch by Paulino, and the line drive, as well. It wasn't ruled an error, but that ball went right by Gaby's glove. It was catchable. Out of the 4 runs allowed by VandenHurk, only 1 ended up being earned. The Marlins played horrible defense the last 2 innings, and I really hope Fredi doesn't lose confidence in VandenHurk. He better not lose confidence in Tankersley either; DFA'ing a LOOGY after people have been asking for one for months makes no sense. Tankersley didn't pitch bad tonight either, he just allowed a walk. The Shoppach walk (a tough out for Tankersley because he sucks against righties and Shoppach is awesome against lefties) shouldn't have been a walk. Gaby Sanchez cost Tank an out there. The only thing Tank did wrong was walk Jaso...he ended up getting Crawford (another lefty) out, which is good. Why didn't Jorge Sosa and Nate Robertson...even Jay Buente pitch in this game when it was 14-4? The game was out of hand; those are the horrible relievers on this team. Also...is Brian Sanches still alive? It seems like he's rarely ever used anymore, and considering the year he had for us last year, and how bad the bullpen is, I don't see why that should be the case.
