Can't say I really agree with Conine here.

For those of us without TV – what did he say?

First off, he doesn't mind Morgan stealing 2nd and 3rd since the game was still only in the 3rd and he just wanted to get his team a run. Also that it was unnecessary of Volstad to throw at Morgan the second time and Morgan did what he had to by charging (more or less).

He wasn't really defending Morgan, but giving us a ballplayer's view of the situation.

I agree with him on the former, but not necessarily on the latter.

If the situation were reveresed and the Nats were up by 10 runs and Morgan stole 2nd and 3rd, then that might be grounds for throwing at Morgan. I think the second attempt was necessary because I don't think Volstad made a strong enough case the first time.

My favorite part was when he momentarily paused before charging the mound, as if he was faking someone out.

I thought it was more of a 'oh hell na' *looks to the side* moment.

Did anyone else notice Sanabia getting into the pile and throwing fists like crazy :lol You have to look closely. He gets dragged out by a nat eventually. Hilarious :lol

Rookies stepping up in the brawl big time.

In only two nights, I feel badly for two of our players who stepped up when we needed them and gave us whatever they got to let us win games. Hayes and Murphy both deserve a lot of credit and thanks. It's a shame they both got hurt so badly. I'll never forget Hayes not letting go of the ball after Morgan ran him over. And Murphy's numerous walk-offs that saved us. I was just saying earlier in the game thread that it was good to see Murphy getting hits and scoring runs in the first time in a long time that Edwin allowed him to start a game. Sucks badly that that would be his last game he'd play this year. I would really like to see Murphy come back next year and I think he deserves the consideration

I don't know of his time before the Marlins, but Murphy really looked like a really solid player. I mean, his role on this team would be a spot starter or bench bat, but he really looked good playing for us. The guy is huge in my book, and not just because he pulled some miracles earlier this season.

I was saying the same thing about Murphy myself earlier. He finally gets to start, is having an amazing night and it ends this way? Murphy was having a good year, he was due. I also really hope that we can see him here again next year, he deserves it.

Both Hayes and Murphy held onto those balls even though they were injured pretty badly. Kudos to both of them.

ROFL at Edwin's response.

"We were pitching him inside. That's how you get him out. We continued to pitch him inside because that's how we were going to get him out"

Read between the lines. On that note, I like to see what Edwin can do under a full year, depending on the Marlins record at end of season, and record under him. He is (I think) 33-29 as manager.

So they were talking about the game on Mike and Mike for the last 20 minutes(as of 6:22 when I started typing). But t all they talked about was whether it was OK for Morgan to be stealing bases in the 4th inning when they were down 11 runs. They said that since it was still early in the game it was OK. I agree with that. But the base stealing was like half the reason for the brawl. I didn't hear them talk about what happened in Tuesday's game or the throwing-of-the-ball-at-the-fan incident. Though I did turn on Mike & Mike at 6:05. They said they were gonna ask John Smoltz and Tim Kiirkijan their opinions when they come on later. I don't think I'll be awake for that.

Another thing is, the way Morgan was going, he was bound to cause a brawl. If it wouldn't have happened last night it would've happened soon.

I'm hoping for the next time we have a brawl, Stanton will lift up someone and toss him into the crowd.

any know if uggla or hanley had anything to say to that POS morgan as he stole 2nd/3rd?

No fight broke out, so no.

I know. The literal statement isn't funny

I just want to sit and deconstruct that clip over and over.

I wonder if Gaby was thinking as he ran in "F* it, i'm going to drop a lariat on this dude," or if it was just instinctual. I mean you'd think the normal thing would be to tackle him to the ground and then if you get a punch in or something, hey great bonus.

Like every time you mess with Gaby, does he just cold sprint right at you and clothesline you over and over?

I don't think it would have occurred to me to clothesline the guy. Some intrepid young reporter needs to ask him this. "So Gaby, be honest, you had to know that there was a possibility the stuff might go down in that game at some point. Did you have the fight already choreographed out? Did you mimic your favorite professional wrestler and who would that be? Or was that all just ho-hum everyday routine badass for you?"

Did you by chance to dissect the footage enough to see what Veras did to warrant an ejection? I watched a couple times this afternoon and other than talking heatedly to a Nat, I didn't see Veras do anything. I really couldn't see where/when he entered the brawl.
