Im sure the point here is to give another guy a chance at starting. I mean, if you've given up on the season. Plus we're really short on starters... I dunno who Mendez is and he doesnt look like a starter through his stats but I know Meyer and Tankersley certainly arent starters.

why would we give this guy a chance instead of one of the 2 guys in AA who have been great all year. this guy is 28 and in AAA and not doing anything special. he hasnt been terrible in AAA however and that more then wwe can say for most guys in new orleans

I would've personally rather seen Burke Badenhop take the spot start, or just call up an Elih Vilanueva or Tom Koehler for one game instead of calling up Adalberto Mendez. Hell, I follow the Marlins minor league system pretty well and I had to google this guy.

i knew who mendez was and he seems decent but once i saw his age several months ago i never figured he would be much a contributor.

 

but judging by his number he might be able to pull out a good start or 2 for us.

I had forgotten about the double header on Monday and assumed they were just calling Mendez up to be another reliever for the rest of the year.

Ah, okay. That's nice of the big club, I suppose, and it certainly is more than a white flag on this season (can't blame them, of course).

Let's just hope that Mendez DOES know how to pitch and he doesn't get hammered.
