First source is a bleacherreport opinion...although it's a positive one, and it's based on the opinion that the guy thinks Richardson should've been considered for a spot in the Red Sox '11 bullpen. He supports his statement with some stats, etc.

 

Second is a source before this past year, comparing the Red Sox needs heading into the year, in terms of the 2nd lefty in the pen. Gives a scouting report on Richardson and his strengths...

 

Third source is him in the Arizona Fall League with a video of his interesting, deceptive delivery.

 

Fourth source is from 2008. Says some positive things about him moving up fast in the system, etc.

I need my head examined then. 2 top-level prospects, 2 bullpen-arm prospects, and a throw in were returned for 1 superstar, Unless Maybin really comes on, this trade has to be considered a total bust, but only hindsight lets us mock this trade. I liked the 2 LA teams packages better at the time and it appears that the LAD trade may have worked out better, but lets not pretend that Miller and Maybin weren't considered top guys to get. These were top ten picks in the 2005 and 2006 MLB drafts after all.

 

This. Maybin & Miller were two of baseball's top ten prospects, at the time of the trade.

 

I'll third it. And add in that people look back on that trade and act like Miggy was going to sign here long term if that or any trade didn't happen. Fact is, he wasn't going to. He would have rode it out then filed for FA. It may have been interesting to watch the bidding war, but everyone would have been complaining that we let him go for nothing. The only other difference is that he would probably ended up on one of the NY teams or Boston. Can you imagine the posts if he ended up with the Mets?

 

This isn't crystal ball gazing. Or opinion. It's remembering the way he acted here and his exploits without being fogged over with FO hatred.
